mufflerectomy in Manchester?

There was a thing (which I experienced in my Volvo 850 T5), where if you decat the car on an older turbo the change in back pressure can blow the oil seals. Did this in about 1000 miles when I had my T5 :(

Not sure how true this will be on these kind of cars, just thought I'd add my input from personal experience.
