G'day from a newbie Furby vRS owner!

Featured Replies

Hope this post finds you all well and looking forward to the weekend.

I'm a new Furby vRS owner (picked it up last Sunday) and have been very pleased with it so far. I considered the Ibiza TDi 130 FR, and the VW Golf TDi 2.0 (but too expensive for what it is).

However, there is one thing about the Furby that is unsettling me. The steering appears to be a bit vague. The sensations I'm getting are:

1. On the motorway it wants to wander around the lane a bit and is a bit vague (i.e. doesn't respond that quickly to driver input).

2. An intermittent chattering through the steering colum.

3. Wants to pull to the left if pushed hard.

Anybody else expreienced any of the above? Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Briskoda. Have you checked the tyre pressures?

Ok, now don't laugh when I tell you this :) . The dealer couldn't find the user manual when I bought the car (it's an ex-demo).

He promised to post it to me this week, but as yet nothing. So consequently I don't know what the correct tyre pressures are for front and back.

I tried looking on the inside of the door as they are sometimes posted there, but couldn't see them.

I'll be paying the dealer a visit tomorrow to find out where my user manual is :( But in the meantime I'd be grateful if someone could let me know the correct pressures. That way I can check them before my trek home tonight from work.

Cheers,

JT

Denis, forgot to say thank you for the welcome. I've been reading the site for sometime and have found some really useful info on here.

I'm currenly interested in getting in on the group buy discount for the Jabba remap. My only slight reservation is the issue of warranty and extra stress on certain parts of the car, i.e. clutch, drive shaft etc.

Any thoughts on this?

Many thanks,

JT

They're inside the fuel filler flap. But quoted in Bar (multiply by 14.5 for PSI IIRC)

Hope that improves things for you - I get a slight pull to the left on mine but none of the other things you mention.

Cheers for that, I'll be checking the tyre pressure's on the way home. I'm hoping they're down a bit as that might rectify the problem, fingers crossed.

Hello & Welcome :wavey:

Another thing to do is get the balance checked, as it is a used car.

BTW have the alloys been kerbed ? If so deff get them checked.

Cheers for the advice. I was hoping that the tyre pressure was going to be out when I checked it on Friday evening, but nope, it was spot on.

The steering problems have gotten worse over the weekend, with the front left feeling quite loose at times, especially under accelaration. When accelerating reasonably hard the car wants to wander all over the place, v. disconcerting.

So, perhaps the alignment is badly out. I can't see any sign of kerbing on the alloys, but it definitely doesn't feel right.

What a pain to have had the car only 1 week and problems already!

Cheers again.

The tyres are pumped up really hard for carrying the car on a transporter. In my case, they forgot to lower the pressures during PDI. Your problem could be too much air, not too little. Or pressures out of balance.

I checked the pressures (front & back) and they were spot on.

The problem has gotten a lot worse since I first posted. There is a serious amount of vibration coming through the steering column and the handling is terrible at speed (car wants to wander all over the place).

I'm also experiencing a reduction in power.

I'm at a loss as to what the problem could be, but I do know this, the dealer is getting a visit this Saturday and my sick Furby is going to be booked in for a little TLC.

I'm just gutted that I've only had the car for just over a week and problems already.

It was an ex-demo and I'm hoping that it hasn't been thrased to bits by test pilots.

Has anyone else experienced any problems with handling similar to what I've described above?

Cheers.
