Cheap-o fault code reader, any good?

Featured Replies

I have just booked my car in for a re-map and was thinking of buying one of those hand scanners to make sure the car is right enough before i go, has anyone used one of these, can you recomend something better?

I've got one that looks the same as that. Seems to work OK, I've been able to read fault codes and clear them with it no problem.

The booklet that came with mine doesn't have all of the fault codes in, but you can easily find them on the Ross Tech website.

Code reader cost less than the price of having codes read at a Skoda stealer or even an Indy, so worthwhile in my opinion.

I have that exact one and its as good as any other for basic fault code reading/clearing. Worth the money imo

Who is mapping it?

Every reputable tuner should scan for fault codes before doing any work anyways.

If the OP scans his car before taking it for a remap, he can fix any faults before hand rather than having a wasted trip because the car needs parts fitting. I presume that is his intention.
