Felicia driver door not locking

Featured Replies

When locking the car this morning the key felt weird. Then I noticed I couldn't lock the car.

The lock button wouldn't even push down unless I was in the car with the door closed, but the rest of the doors will lock if I push the passenger side button down.

I'm sure it'll be an easy fix, which is what I like about the car, but if anyone knows of a likely cause I'd be interested.

...good chance the little plastic doo-dad that connects the servo to the button/key-lock mechanism has come undone, or the servo itself has gone to a better place. - you'll have to pull the card off either way.

Thanks for your reply.

Pulling the card off is a definite, but my recent experience with the workings of a Renault door was a 'mare. There's a whole thread devoted to it on a forum, that's how tricky it is. :S

The Felicia is quite basic though, so should be an easier fix. :wonder:

The door handle/lock mechanism is fairly simple in a felicia, there is little push rod bar things which sometimes pop off, at least you don't have to drill out any rivets to first remove the regulator assembly like you do on a fabia!!

It should be easy then, at least it's lockable via the back door and I'll get onto fixing it when I get off shift.

I got the same issue some time ago. In my case, one of the wires going to positioner went loose.

you'll see what is wrong the moment you get the door panel out. follow the wires to positioner and one of them will be loose, cut or badly corroded.

so it;s an easy fix.

Good.

TBH, I haven't had time to look yet, just been locking it from reaching in through the back door.

Got around to 'fixing' it today.

All rods were intact and connected. It is the door lock barrel, but I'm not sure what is wrong. :wonder:

In the end I switched the drivers side barrel for the passengers side one- sorted.

Got the same problem with mine at the moment, I've been told a little cam in the drivers door lock barrel has probably snapped off so at some point I need to go to a scrappies and pinch the part off another lock barrel. Was it an easy job getting the door card off?

Easy to get the card off.

Just pull off the door-pull handle top trim. There are 3 screws under there.

The window winder has a cap on the top which comes off to get to the screw there.

There is a screw under a cap just above the door bin towards the lock side.

Unscrew the door lock button.

Then the panel is held on by poppers. The best place to start is bottom right hand corner, working on the inside of the drivers door. If on the passenger side, it's bottom left corner.

Getting to the barrel is more difficult.

There is a white plastic shield that has to be moved out the way as best you can. It's held on by 2 nuts and 2 u-clips.

The black plastic inner of the door handle can now be removed too.

You should be able to see the back of the barrel now, but will need to unclip at least one of the balljointed rods in order to get to it and remove it.

The barrel has a rectangular slide washer holding it in place. Lever that across and then the barrel will come out from the outside of the door.

Have fun, it's a tight squeeze in there unless you have dainty hands. ;)

Thanks - sounds a bit more straightforward than my old Octys door. I'll give it a go when I can get hold of the part.

Lot more straightforward than my Scenic too. I spent hours figuring that one out. :S

The problem on mine is the die-cast barrel, as it has broken on the driver and passengers side, which means I can only lock it from locking the back door, does anyone know where and if I can get a replacement barrel, as a replacement will mean a new key.

Thanks guys

Nope it won't mean a new key. I had a barrel that had been smashed. Popped down the local dealer.........£18.75 for a lock made to fit my key :)

(Six week lead time, but worth the wait :) )

Sounds like I need a specialist, thanks for the reply.

I will take it to bits and investigate.

:)
