Just a quick question, are the standard wiper arms from a mk4 golf identical to the mk 1 octy arms?

I know the aero arms are a common upgrade so I suspect they do fit?!

Thanks for the fast replies guys! I had the car booked in for an mot this morning but some yobs must have been messing with the car as the o/s arm is bent and doesn't clear the screen. Furious!!

So it's goodbye mot today, and off on a hunt for a replacement arm ASAP. Sods law!!

Where in the UK are you? I have a set of Octy arms in my garage which aren't doing anything....

Could you not bend the arm enough to get it to pass the MOT (might look naff, but hey if it passes....) and then source a replacement arm at a better price afterwards?

I have tried bending it back into shape, but its been bent too far on the thinner section of the arm to be persuaded back into shape. . .

I have a drivers side aero arm if you want it? also have aero wipers to fit that i don't need

I've got a pair here in Driffield, E Yorkshire? Some corrosion on drivers arm but otherwise straight. Pm for details.

I've been for a scout around this morning and found a vag specific scrap yard (at least something good has come of this!!) in Huddersfield that has quite a few mk4 golfs and a few octys in there, so I'm going to call back there Monday morning to pick an arm up.

I'm going to keep an eye out for some aero wipers though in the long term! I know they look a damn site better, but how are they in terms of performance? Noise/clearing muck and water etc.?! Any opinions would be great!!

Aeros are a massive improvement in my opinion, clear the screen perfectly without noise even when doing 70ish :p up the motorway

as above, plus the ends of the rubbers don't split either Mine had been fitted for about 5 years (at 30k/year) and are still ok.
