Parrot CK3100

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone used a Trophy WP7 and a Parrot CK3100 with good results. I have been using a Nokia CK-7W for the last 5-6 years (initially with a cradle, and then with BT for more recent phones) and it has always performed as expected.

However since I have switched to the Trophy, anyone I speak to is reporting hearing a terrible echo of themselves. It appears this fault is with the ck-7w, which used with some non-Nokia phones (htc, BB, etc), and the odd Nokia too. Given that Nokia seem unwilling (or incapable) of resolving the issue then my only option is to replace carkit :-(

I have seen the CK3100 for a fraction under £120, but I would like some feedback to say it works well (and properly integrates with the phones address book, etc). I have an aftermarket Pioneer HU, and a audio mute kit, so the CK-7W currently drives the car speakers (and sends a mute command to the HU).

Thanks,

Matt

I got a parrot mki9200 and it is ace!!!!!!!!! Got it from halfords for £150 with a set of free home speakers then fitted it my-slef really easy to fit and no extra leads required, all i can maybe suggest is to buy some packing to stop rattles from extra wires and the blue box controller...

Mine has ipod, aux and usb lead in glovebox. It also bluetooth streams music direct from my iphone. voice control in brilliant to.

I have drilled a hole in one on the dash blanks which are £1.20 for a new one and it sits flush onto the dash!!!!

hope this helps

I've got a Nokia ck-7w which worked flawlessly with my Nokia 6110 Navigator. However with my HTC Desire it drops Bluetooth connection at random intervals, and sometimes even when it shows as paired, incoming calls are not routed through it.

I personally think Nokia's implementation of Bluetooth is not as standard as they might like to admit. I had similar problems pairing the Navigator to my Garmin Nuvi satnav. Nokia told me then that using a non-nokia product with my phone would invalidate the warranty on my phone! WTF! Bluetooth is supposed to be an open standard!

Personally I think the nokia is an old piece of kit that supports the old standard and that certain phone makers try and do clever things that are part of the new standards without ensuring full backward comparability ;)

Indeed, or Nokia broke the standard slightly but older phones did not seem to mind.

As MS seem to be rather anally rententionce about following standards with WP7, I wonder if this is part of the problem, as for instance you can't connect to a Wireless network which is not broadcasting its SSID.

Is that unit just for iPhones? I am not sure I need (or want) such a large display in the car....

have you considered upgrading the head unit to a Bluetooth one?

I already have a reasonable Pioneer HU in the car, so I wasn't really looking to change the HU over. However it is an option, assuming I could find one which did still had green lighting, and showed the phone number/name of who was calling as that is something I miss by not having nmy phone in a cradle anymore.

also if you go down that route look for one which has an external Mic. I had a Sony xplod with internal Mic which was useless in a Kia Sedona. The seller said it was the vibration from the 2.9l diesel engine. :dull:

This looks the dog's

Parrot Bluetooth HU

or there's this at the other end of the price spectrum Beat 550

Seems as though for the price you are talking about (£120) there are a range of BT head units. This would be my preferred option as there are then no hassles with intefacing a car kit with the HU etc, plus you could sell your existing HU on here to reduce the overall outlay

I think the echo issue is a HTC one, as I have the same with the desire on both the same Nokia kit as you, and the ford BT system.

Moved the Nokia mic helped, not an option on the Ford.

I had this issue with my HTC Desire Z and my old nokia kit. Fortunately I got a CK3100 kit for free and that works fine, easy to fit once I removed the extraneous toyota wiring loom.

A little test with a few phones from people I know and a nokia CK7w kit I did for you:

- Multiple Nokia Phones of various ages = All fine

- HTC Desire/Wildfire = Connects but not working properly.

- Samsung Galaxy S2 = Connects and works fine for making calls etc

I've also previously used a blackberry Bold with the same kit and no problems with that either.

It's a bit odd that one Android phone works fine and another doesn't IMHO, so I'd suspect it's more likely the HTC bluetooth stack doing something funny as yours is a windows HTC.

Thanks for the tests. My brother's wife has a Trophy and my bro has a ck-7w in my old 306 so I'll try and get them to check the fault exists in that combo too.

I'll get a mate with his Sony (old school) phone and his Expedia x10 around to try at somepoint, plus I'll try my phone on his car (Toyota), not sure what BT kit he has fitted though (not a Nokia). When I was driving to Farnborough yesterday I was trying to work out the best place to stick the parrot screen.

At the moment my Nokia mic is stuck up near to the sunroof controls.

Here is where I put mine.

Thanks, that screen looks a little angled?

Your steering wheel looks like new!

I guess you made a small hole in the top of the switch blanker plate to route the cables though? I have an old dashmount bracket which can attach down near to the climatronic unit should I decided I want a bracket for the phone to enable changing, etc.

It's not as angled as the picture suggests, you can read it fine from the drivers seat.

Yes I did just cut a groove in the blank to route the cables through.

Be interested to know.

I got mine from a seller on Amazon. The kit came complete with the audio mute kit too (all in the Parrot box). The hardest bit was routing the 90deg jack plug for the microphone under the roof lining, I cut it off and soldered it back on once I had the cable in.

I got a length of stiff wire which I poked through from the sunroof controls bit to the corner of the windscreen. I looped the wire round the plug and then pulled it through to the windscreen with the wire.
