Play in the DMF

Featured Replies

So my gearbox saga continues...

Took the car to an independent transmission specialist today to get them to look at the car infact all they did really was listen and they have pretty much confirmed its the DMF that has excessive play and needs replaced along with the clutch, they were also a little surprised that it got a new clutch release bearing and no clutch.

Is the DMF a common thing in Petrol vehicles? i didnt know they even had one i was shocked when thats what they said is 99.9% wrong with it.

Its a 2008 2.0TFSI with 38k on the clock and this "rumbling" noise has been there from day one, we bought it used with 30k on the clock and have been arguing ever since that there was an issue with either the clutch or gearbox, its still under warranty also.

I would of thought the garage that removed & re built your gearbox would of checked the dmf & clutch for wear at the same time?
