Routing Amp/Sub Wires from Head Unit to Boot

Featured Replies

I am interested in finding out how others who have installed an amp/sub box in the boots of their Mark I Fabias have routed the cables. If I understand correctly the RCA and power cables need to be kept separated to avoid interference/noise, so was just wondered where everyone has routed them. I remember reading someone had routed the power/ignition 'on' cables under the car, but I'd rather avoid this if possible. I had a look at the outer trim area (below the doors) and the space between the trim and the carpets is very tight, so don't think I could simply tuck them under. Is it better to remove the trim? I suppose it may be possible to go via the centre console but don't think the wires could remain unexposed all the way to the boot if routing there. I'm hoping to get some suggestions and info on what others have done and whether the trim needs to be removed. Thanks in advance!

Alright mate, mine came fitted with all the respective wires running under the passenger side door trim. Under the piece of plastic which runs between the carpet and the sills.

Hope this helps.

Not sure if this will help but when I installed a CD changer in the boot I routed the cable under the centre console alongside the 'transmission tunnel' then under the carpet below the back seats to the rear left wheelarch. Under the trim there and then out by the rear light unit. Plenty of space but a bit trick as it involved taking the glovebox out, loosening the centre console, then removing the rear seats and ts of pushing and shoving of hands into small confined spaces. Neat job though in the end.

I ran the power through the existing grommet in the bulkhead (through the rain gutter bit and behind top of glovebox) and ran this down under passenger side. I believe the grommet is there for the bonnet release cable on LHD models. I ran the RCA cables by removing the passenger seat, while the trim to install the power cable was still removed, and put the RCA's under the carpet running them up under the carpet under the rear seats. I ran two pairs even though only one was needed for the sub, in case I wanted to amp the front speakers in future too. In the same vein I ran far higher a gauge power cable than I actually needed, for future redundancy purposes in case I wanted to install a bigger amp to do the job.

Install like this at the battery end http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/195613-fabia-refurb-underway/page__view__findpost__p__2463288 you just need to dremel some of the battery cover for the end to connect and to pass the wire through.
