Coolant change

Featured Replies

Hey,

I'm looking at doing a coolant change to my car sometime soon..

How many litres should I buy from skoda?

Cheers!

I just did my cam belt and water pump and renewed with 2 x 1.5 litre G12++ plus water. You won't get all the old coolant out if you just open the drain tap (about 3 litres max). If you remove the water pump it goes up to about 5 litres. The system is quoted as holding 6.8 litres. 50% G12 protects down to -35 deg C.

I'm not convinced that VAG suggest that coolant needs replaced frequently, if like a lot of folk, you get the cambelt replaced every 4 years of 60,000 miles, then maybe add in a water pump change as well - as the belt runs round that too - so if that gets done the coolant will get replaced - that looks like what the second poster was doing.
