Leaky Vectra Wheels

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know of a product that will sort my son's leaky alloy wheels. Both rear wheels are leaking air around the bead seats, looses about 5psi over a week. Both tyres have been off and they are in good nick. The tyre fitter put some sort of rubber solution on the wheels before the tyres went back on, but they are both still seaping air around the beads. Apart from getting new wheels, any suggestions? TIA

did they start leaking after new tyres? Valves?

Take tyres back off rims and clean where tyres sit on alloys with a wire brush preferably one in a drill, clean all stuff he put on off tyres and refit them

Most of time this works, no need to stick tyres on most of time

This exactly what the tyre fitter did, there was a fair bit of surface corrosion, so he put the solution on in the hope it would make a better seal. To be fair to him, he did say he thought this would be a problem.

The tyresand valves had been on about a year before they started leaking.

Think it's probably time for looking at a refurb on the wheels.
