Vrs tick over

Featured Replies

When fabia vrs is sat on tick over idle the turbo will sometime start whistling but when you tap the accelerator it will stop whistling? Does anyone else's do this or is it normal?

Mike

Totally normal. It's the waste gate opening I believe.

Oh right that's ok I was worried it had something to do with my remap

No just a high pitch whistling, I read your post is that sound when it's under boost or idle?

Yep. Completely normal. Mine is more noticeable since turning the EGR down in vag-com but did it before anyway.

ahh right, what are the benefits of turning the EGR down?

Less rubbish going into engine and less smoke out the back.

Mine also does this only noticed when I started putting it into the garage over night and with the echo from the walls I was quite worried about it, until yesterday when I read this same reason regards the wastegate.

yea i see the benefit then of turning down the EGR if your remapped

Yeah mines the same bud, I really noticed it when I stuck the bypass pipe in!

Bypass pipe? What does this mod do? Does this just completely cut out the EGR?

My car isn't mapped btw. Just wanted less crud going in the engine.

You can buy a blanking kit to completely remove the EGR yes.
