Brake Issue Fabia Vrs

Featured Replies

hi all,

recently changed the discs and pads on my fabia vrs 04 plate..(standard disc and pads just new ones)

left them for 100-200 miles to let them bed in with light driving

but lately ive noticed under heavy braking the car does not seem to want to stop at all

the pedal is as far as it wil go down but stil doesnt brake efficiently.

My car is slightly modified with a turbo back exhaust fmic & custom remap runnin 190-200bhp,

but i was thinking of buying some EBC pads seen alot of ppl use the green stuff pads are these good?,

would this help solve the problem or do you think a brake upgrade is needed

maybe 312mm upgrade of the octavia vrs ?

any advice/help is appreciated cheeers

In regards to the brake pads, form personal experince I wouldnt touch EBC with a 10 foot f*****k barge poll! There is plenty of better pads on the market mate, and from this forum people seem to really like ferodo pads

Ferodo or Pagid..

I have the 312mm setup and I'm sticking Mintex on...

All three are very good

Yer I belive demon tweeks sell them, i will warn tho mate they are very very expensive.

In regards to the 312mm brake conversion, good choice! Thats whats being done to mine this month. HOWEVER! If you do go down this route double check as am sure the calipers on the 312's wont except 288 pads.

Changed your brake fluid recently?

A full bleed of the system including ABS pump (<-Think this requires VAG com)

and maybe uprate the fluid while you're at it?

Should firm the pedal up a fair bit.

It should stop quite well at least once. If it won't do this you've got something of a problem, be it air in the lines, a stuck caliper or whatever. If it's on repeated applications, then maybe it's the fluid going off. Fluid is supposed to be changed every 2 years or 20K miles, I think.

If the car won't stop efficiently at least once, then IMO it's not the safest!

Its goin for a service next week so im goin to sort any problems when i go to the garage.. Mp get the 312mm set up soon tho

Check the servo vacuum pipe for a split, quite common on Fabias.
