1.9 tdi remap

Featured Replies

Got our car remapped by "pd tuning" at the weekend. It has totally transformed the car. Not only much quicker but a lot easier to drive. It doesnt seem to labour when pulling away any more. It will pull from 25mph in fourth gear no problem, where as before 30mph always needed 3rd gear.

Very impressed overall and wish i'd done it earlier. The engineer reckons 145bhp+ and loads more torque. Only cost £199

He custom mapped one before mine and managed 154bhp on the rolling road.

It is a "sedox" map. I've never heard of them personally.

Here's the link to his website.

Celtic tuning offer 168bhp for the 1.9 105bhp engine.

Got this message off them when I enquired.

Thank you for your enquiry with Celtic Tuning, leaders in Electronic Engine Enhancements.

With a global dealer network and full mobile operations in England and Wales, we pride ourselves on both the quality of our software and the delivery of our work. The benefit of choosing Celtic Tuning over the competition is quite simply that, unlike most others, we actually write & develop our own software in house giving us endless flexibility to provide the tuning solution that suits you.

All of our work is developed and tested on our state of the art dynamometer, the Dastek 750. With full monitoring facilities for all engine parameters, it enables us to provide the safest software upgrades for your vehicle without detriment to the longevity of your engine/drive train and all of which is fully MOT compliant for emissions testing.

The 1.9 TDi engines we can take from 105bhp up to 168bhp and from 177lbft torque up to 252lbft torque giving a very impressive performance gain and all within safe design tolerance of the engine and drive train components. Our ‘fast road’ software is designed to provide linear power delivery without any harshness to the acceleration, the benefit being prolonged life of your clutch and a superior drive over standard. We are also able to provide software aimed specifically at economy and also for track use in various stages.

With the fast road software upgrade you can expect to see a 2-5mpg improvement in economy, this is very much dependant however on the way in which the vehicle is driven. For testimonials of our work please follow the link: http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/testimonials.aspx

To provide added peace of mind for customers with vehicles still under warranty, we provide a FREE 12 month’s insurance backed supplementary warranty. For full terms of the warranty please download the brochure here: http://www.celtictuning.co.uk/downloads/Celtic_Tuning_Warranty.pdf

The cost of the remap is £295 all inclusive for which we travel to your location whether it is home or work place. This comes with a 14 day money back guarantee which gives you plenty of time to ensure it is exactly what you are after."

I hope thats a typo.

Ummm very skeptical about those figures. Never heard of the 105 remapping to 170ish. The 130 PD 1.9TDI can be done but not sure about the 105..... :wonder:

Did you ask how the remap would affect consumption?

Well makes sense, as 1.9 8v engines are capable of far more, 150bhp in Fiat Bravo and that's just from Factory. The engine has the potential as it is afterall a 1.9 and 1.6 are generally the 105bhp engines. I asked about risk of damage to the clutch and the say that a benefit is prolonged life of the clutch even with such an increase. Plus it's all warranted for 12 months, so should there be an issue they have to pay. Reassured me, once I get my Fabia Sport 1.9 I will be going to them.

2-5mpg increase after remap.

You do realise "1.9" is the only thing you have in common with the common rail engines they have in Fiats?

Your pump injector units run out of diesel way before 170hp, and your clutch and turbo will explode very shortly after that kind of hp.

Ok, that means that these guys are charging you to rip apart your engine. Hmmm..... Not good then!

The guy who mapped it for me said it was the same engine as the 130 version just with a different manifold. I can't rermember if it was exhaust or inlet though.

I'm not 100% but I think the 130 has a bigger turbo

Sorry for being a bit blunt.

Rubbish!

The have been know to over state all the bhp claims (Celtic) like my other car 325d (197)they are claiming 285bhp (impossible) I know that for sure. So the Fabia claims are OTT,

I think 140ish is right for that engine :) its been around a while and people know what it can do.

I've had a Celtic map before, on a 2.0 TDi Altea, worked okay for 40k miles, pulled pretty well, but having looked around and read a few threads on various forums, decided I wanted a nice smooth map for my Roomy 1.9 TDi so opted for Shark, really pleased with that, it works well.

Celtic's site certainly looks intriguing with the advertised power levels, but if those figures are what you get, then I would be concerned over mechanical longevity. Only how it appears to me though.

I can only tell you what the guy told me. I'm just a gas fitter and not very knowledgeable about remapping. Ask me about your boiler though!
