lamin-x

Featured Replies

Thinking of getting some, whats the easiest way to fit it to the front lights and fogs? anyone got pictures of there cars with different variations?

Headlights are a piece of cake, did mine last week. I found its best to lay a sheet over the light and stick it down, then trim the excess from the edge so it sits flush. Had tried to fold it over the edge but wasnt easy. Have folded it over the top of the light and trimmed where the clear lense meets the black bit under to bonnet. Left a few mm at the bottom and used the supplied fitting tool to push under the light (it didnt stick under the light at first, but if you wedge the tool in and leave it for a minute its sticks fine, then move it along and repeat). I would hate to do the fogs with it tbh, reckon it will be a real pain in the arse with a curved surface, but then I've not even tried yet. A hair dryer will no doubt help, but the lamin-x is nearly 2mm thick. Finished headlights looks great though, went for subtle tint and its defo dark enough. No pics I'm afraid.

what size sheets did you get?

Went for the biggest mate, you will def need it. I actually ran out cos wanted to do the clear parts of the rear. I would suggest you use some paper as a template and lay the templates onto the lamin-x and cut to size. The fogs and/or the rear bits you will get from your off cuts. Pm me your mobile number and I can text you some pics if you like.

i used an old paper and cut a template of the shape i needed.

i then lightly misted the lights with water (doesn't need to be a lot) this helps adjusting the position.

Fot lights pretty much the same, but was left with a tiny crease.

as for examples, have a look on my profile pictures on this site, i have "subtle tint" and you can see with and without it on.

That's what I did for my rear lights.

Did my fogs off the car, covered the edges in black insulating tape

to hide the untidy edge. No Creases on my fogs at all.

Just use plenty of heat and it stretches pretty well despite the thickness.

Dug out a few pics.

Very neat job mate, that insulation tape round the fogs finishes it off lovely, gives a very clean looking job!

Has anyone ever tried using window tinting film on the outside of the headlights?
