Cambelt replacement interval Octavia vRS 2.0 TFSI

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can someone please tell me the replacement interval for a cambelt on a 2006 vRS 2.0 TFSI engine?

The service schedule says 180,000km , my independant garage just quoted 120,000 miles and Skoda has just quoted 4 years?

Also, what prices have people been quoted because the stealer have just quoted me £509 with waterpump.

Thanks,

DJ

Should be done around 70k i think , or 4 yrs , whichever comes first , if yours hasn't been done , do it NOW, if it goes your in big trouble , do a search to a recent thread which went bang at 40k , that seems a lot ,if you in the n/west i can recommend a guy , does all my work .

£350 is the going rate for belt and pump. Try vw dealer who are.doing for this.price under their fixed pricing scheme. Also Skoda/VAG now say 40k or 4 years.

Pete8tch do you have a link to that thread?

According to the skoda main dealer in my area, skoda in ireland, and my manual, it's still 170k km, or 100,000 miles. I mentioned the 4 years or 40k miles to them which I read about here and it was news to them. My main dealer has not received any technical bulletin about it either. So as far as I'm concerned I am following the service schedule by getting it done at 100,000 miles. In reality I will probably get it done around 60,000 miles which will be in another 6 months. My car is 4.5 years old.

There is no technical bulletin about it, the cambelt guide is on desktop to download.

Thanks for that,it interested that the UK is different to Ireland, the manual and the rest of the world. Read several websites stating this is a VAG UK directive and nothing like this is exists anywhere else.

Sorry I don't understand this, is it a dealer guide from Skoda UK?

Desktop is a Skoda dealer portal for want of a better phrase.

I do remember reading that in the USA the cambelt is under warranty for "life" provided it is checked each service and changed on the manufacturer's service intervals. Apparently, they have better lawyers in the USA
