new pipe but crappy top end

Featured Replies

well peeps ive been playing around with some 90mm neoprine piping today from the maf to the top of the turbo,it was a 90mm down to the 80mm so was a bit of a squeeze on the pipe but it held on

the car seemed ok low down but opening up and over the 1** mph mark it felt sluggish and there was a bit of a splutter so i backed off

anyone got any ideas?

cheers

I can't see how changing the T.I.P can really affect the running so much. The only possible thing is maybe the MAF is seeing odd signals?

PS: Talking about exceeding 100mph is not wise!;)

Possibly sucked the pipe in shutting off the air supply a considerable amount?

cheers guys

it has the steel wire running through it but quite 'soft' inbetween

ill stick the old 1 back on

There isn't a massive amount of suction from memory, at least not enough to close up a neoprene pipe. Maybe it is closing it up enough to create a stutter/hesitation, which in itself means its not good. I have a custom TIP setup but its all done using ally pipes, and silicone bends.

If I was doing my car, hard-piping would definately be the way I'd go!

was thinking of a 90mm stainless pipe 200mm long then 2 (1 on either side) silicone joiners

im not sure on the joiners though as the original hoses are 80mm so im thinking whether to go 90mm then clamp them down or 90-80mm reducers in silicone

any ideas?
