rally 100w's ok with xenon plastic lens?

Featured Replies

hi, just wondering if its ok to use 100w main beam bulbs with these poly-whats- it plastic lens's. i've just fitted them and they seem to generate quite a bit of heat, just dont want the lens melting.

any advice welcome :(

I believe Roo has some better bulbs in his fabia vRS with no problems, wether they are 100w though I can't say for sure but they are alot brighter.

Sorry for being dumb here (hey you should be used to it by now  ) but are the Xenons only for dipped main beam then and you still have a separate 'normal' bulb for high beam then?

Yep - not bi-xenons, so dipped is xenon and the main beam is an H7 halogen bulb :D

yep :)

Suppose I'd better get those bulbs changed then :)

Kinda used to having decent bulbs for dipped & undipped now. The rover has H4 fitting and I bought some Philips jobbies for that. Good investment, especially when taking into account how much crud you get on them during a normal commute (near-50 miles).

Thanks for feedback  - little wiser again now :D

Fair enough :) Does the manual say H7, or have I completely imagined it? :D

Chris

The manual is WRONG!

I spent

On the Fabia -

Dipped Beam is H7.

Main Beam and front Fog Lamps are H3.

We always seem to be getting confused about which ones to use

H3s for main beam & fogs - noted :D

IIRC, Jon (taviars) spent ages taking the light apart on his SDI octy with xenons (didn't know you could get them as an option  ) to fit some uber bright main beam bulbs without any trouble. Still running them and has now covered 50k or so miles...

That's on the non-xenon ones ;) The manual says H7 for main beam on the xenon ones, whereas it seems it should be H1! :D

As you've ordered xenons, you'll want H1's for main beam and H3 for fogs ;) Is anyone else getting confused?

Chris

Dunno yet

 - I will probably wait till I take delivery first anyway, I've already got to fit the tax disc holder, the Furby beanies I bought ;) and hopefully the vRS key ring(s).

LOL

I now feel really bad about all this bulb mallarky. After lots of cursing (see here) and asking Jon to modify his post here, I think Colin is right with H1

I can't figure out where I got H7 from, but looking at picks of H7 bulbs, IIRC, the ones in my ex-xenoned-fuby looked different

:o :O :o :O :o

Could I have a confirmation about what a Fab vRS 2005 WITH Xenons needs for it's main (undipped) and fogs please? I believe it's H1 main, H3 fogs based on a previous post ?

Yours confusedly ;)
