Xenons are only as good as the bulb thats behind them, most use a H7 i believe, perhaps the fabia does not...i dunno.

anyhoo, dont go adjusting the height of your lamps with a screwdriver and expect it to solve your problems, all it does is **** other road users off - take it to an MOT station and let them put your beams on the correct height meter.

Any proper HID bulb is not of the "H" family, but of the "D" family. There's another post which links to a fully detailed explantion ;)

And you cannot adjust the height of xenons lights on a Fabia with a scredriver (un)fortunately. You need vagcom ;)

appologies, D family.....as for the adjusting, i wouldnt know, dont own a skodarse

Oh, do forgive me.....I hadn't realised that a phrase I have probably used 3 or 4 times in 6 months had actually offended anyone. There was me thinking we were about to start an interesting and informative discussion on the pros and cons of having xenon lights.

Your response to my answer was uncalled for and belongs to other less adult forums (I think there's a chavvy saxo forum somewhere where instead of light banter and sensible discussion they just abuse each other, maybe you'd be better suited to that). Anyway, thanks for tarnishing my Briskoda experience for the first time. In the REAL world I dont stand for lippy little tw@ts.

Anyway.....nuff said....mate :finger:

Brilliant! To me the term 'nuff said' belongs in a 'chavy Saxo forum', as you put it.

Anyway I think you've over reacted, my post was not offensive just we had a difference in opinion.

Oh and btw I think in the 'REAL world' you'd have a hard time with me, I am a strong opinionated character, and for that have done well in life ;)

Anyway lets not bring this to the padlock...

I think xenons are great and wish I had orderd them, but at the time felt I had better things to throw 500.00 at :)

S'funny, i can honestly say that i NEVER use that term when I am talking, maybe its being around certain people that brings the inner chav in me to the surface....hmmmmm.

You thought I over-reacted, and I thought you were offensive, yet another thing we disagree on AND I too am an extremely strong and opinionated character, and I too have done alright thanks.

We'll draw a line under this one, but suggest we avoid commenting on each others posts in future ok........Oh, and in the 'real world' I prefer to fry much bigger fish.

(now where's my Burberry cap gone??)

Oh for f*cks sake! :thumbdwn:

To 'lighten' this up a bit (get it lol :P  )

Ive just ordered mine with these xenons for a discounted price of 400quid. Been in a car with them fitted (Audi TT) and was amazed how much they lit the road! Hope the Fabia's are the same :)

Oh for f*cks sake! :thumbdwn:

Agreed. Some people are obviously special

Dave please dont tell me you have to wait till May :(

I waited two weeks for mine and it's painfull :)

Well I got my order form through the post today and it said earliest delivery date 29th April........

I have to wait anyway because before 1st May I dont have the money to pay for it!! ;) It is gonna be the longest month, or so, ever

Rather you than me, still your love it when you finally get your hands on it

I ordered it in December, and I'm picking it up this Saturday WOOOOOT :D

It's been pretty hard work considering I'm doing 500-odd miles/week commute at the moment, not much joy. Let's just hope the car is exactly as we ordered ;)

Dealer has been excellent so far, I suppose I'll have to do them a positive review :D

WwoowooOOoOoo *holds up handbag*

Spot, if you have nothing positive to contribute I suggest you refrain from posting.

Oh for f*cks sake! :thumbdwn:

I know, would just like to offer my sincere apologies folks....I dont make a habit of partaking in infantile and petty 'discussions'.

ANyway....xenons....if ya like them then go for them, each to his own. ;)

I'm not going to get into the handbagging but - I have Zenons on my now 2 week old VRS and they are definitely set too low. I have had 3 cars in the last 5 years with them and my wife's X5 has them and they are all the mutts nuts. The VRS ones are too bright in the near ground and don't extend to the middle/far ground. I think a trip back to the dealer is in order.

I can appreciate the fact that a lot of people on here have no problems with them, however, I did read on a Check website recently that Skoda have sacked a disgruntled asssembly line worker called Giorgi Litesoff who was so upset with people dazzling him with Zenons on the open road, that he deliberately set all car's lights that he worked on, to an artificially low setting! (OK that may never have happened, but it's not a bad rumour eh  )

Try em, you'll buy 'em! (Unless you get a set of Giorgi's)

Cheers

  • 2 months later...

cool story ;)

just hope it's not true :D

ok let me rephrase that...

I actually hope it's true since that'd sort out the problems for any new buyer

I got some bulbs changed on mine (uprated high beam & side lights).

Dealer took out the whole light units and one side was not aimed properly - seemed like it wasn't horizontal.

Either way - took it back in noting it was rubbish beforehand. Lights were sorted & now it's back to where it used to be.

Definitely they need to be properly adjusted/levelled against with VagCOM. Too high and you'll p*ss everyone off. Too low and you'll probably crash as you cannot see a darn thing.

The quality of the light is superb. I have not been flashed more than about twice in the past six month (with lights, anyway  ) and when I did I treated them to my uprated undipped beam. As soon as they recovered their high beam went off ;) (I just flashed them, didnt put it on permanent...)

Either way - I still think the best way to be 100% sure is to go to a friendly MOT center and get it checked. Ideally one with VAGCOM available ;) Then you can get it adjusted upward without it being illegal & you'll be assured of the best light output :D

I had self leveling Xenons on my M3 and must say they were superb!

I opted not to get them on my Furby as

I'm glad I didn't spend the additional as the standard lighting seems pretty good IMO! I think if this was not the case, I would have regretted not ticking the options box.

Do you know if they're running standard bulbs, or if you have some uprated whiter bulbs?

Chris

I just got myself some Philips Xenons...hope they look as I picture them to..
