leeds to bournmouth

Featured Replies

well yesterday went to meet some friends at the new forest near bournmouth at frogham......................

we saw one other vrs even though in the day we did 565 miles it averaged out at 56 m.p.g and the orange re-fuel light came on about 5 mins from home so well chuffed

The only thing was my back at the bottom....never had this problem with my elegance just wondered if it was down to the firmer ride or harder seats

But was thinking it was the lumbar support at the base of the seat .....just wondering if other owners have the lumber out or in ?

lumbar out. Never had a problem with back ache in the vrs or my old elegance and I'm very susceptible to it in bad car seats. I've driven from Alps to north of England in one stretch with no issue.

Dont know about the VRS but I had a problem with my Elegance a few months ago at around 30k.

The drivers seat base foam had collapsed.

The replacement wasnt much better.

i have now had 2 foams and the cover replaced on mine.

Never had a problem with my 3 prevoius octavias ( did 80k in 20 months in each of them ) so im thinking poor quality materials.

I would have said this was a weakness with the Octavia seats in general...............

and me being particularly susceptible due to Sciatia

Except having accumulated 5160 miles over 31 days recently................with no problems.

Seat high, steering wheel low, with my left knee "wedged" against the corner of the centre unit/dash.

The key appeared to be keeping the base of my spine driven firmly into the bottom back of the seat.

& Never a creak or groan from my back, either during driving or afterwards.

Cheers

I noticed it was a firmer ride but my body quickly adjusted & I cant say I ever have any back ache at all. Not that i've clocked up that many miles in 1 hit yet! You must have been so glad to get home though.

Lumbar support or lack of is common with octy seats .I changed my front ones for golf seats which are better and a straight swop with no mods needed .

I think if I started doing mega miles again, I'd be looking to put a recaro fully adjustable drivers seat in there.

Agreed. Chuffed to bits with the comfort of my Recaros. Lumbar support is so good on them.
