Thanks

Egr valve needs replacing mine is doing exactly the same diaphragm has become faulty.

Its fairly normal but you don't want if that makes sense. Ie, its a common problem... New egr valve or delete is the only fix i believe.

Thanks for the replies. At least I know its common and what it is.

Really glad I got a car with a Skoda warranty now!!

Well, I was about to type that it won't harm the car unless you allow it to run low on oil (which would take a long time anyway)..

But then I saw you have a warranty so go get it sorted! Mine was this bad, I was just about on the edge of forking out for a replacement but luckily I got it swapped out for a friends when they had a delete fitted.. Right place, right time... no more leak!

Can you let us know if you manage to get this replaced under warrenty OK? Havn't checked mine but just getting a feel for how the skoda assistance works! Never had a car with warrents before!

Cheers.

Weird.

I was just about to post about the exact same thing on mine!

My leak isn't as bad as that but still a little dribble of oil.

I will look at just getting a delete kit I think.

It only dribbles out a little but just ends up like that. Mine takes months to end up like that I just clean it up every week when I check my levels

Ah right.

Looking at the delete kits.

They're cheaper that a new EGR but then there are issues with the ECL light on and having to remove that through VCDS.

Plus I then lose my anti-shudder valve.

Might get my EGR off at the weekend and see about giving it a clean etc.

I have turned it down through vag-com the other week so it shouldn't be opening as much now anyway.

This may be of interest to someone on a budget:

This guy has basically gutted the innards of his EGR to make his own EGR delete.

Not sure if this would still throw up the CEL light.

An advantage also being that it keeps the anti-shudder valve and looks OEM.

Think I will just do a clean to begin with.

How difficult is the inlet manifold to remove?

Phil

just disconnect the rubber pipe that activates it and plug the pipe...job sorted.

What's the benefit of blocking the EGR?
