Featured Replies

Right after much reading/trawling on topics throughout the forum ive decided the weitec hicon gt's are best bet / price

now when fitting coilovers is it recommended to fit all new top susspension mounts ? my cars coverd 134k so they must be pretty batterd. car was also used for towing by previous owner .

so will need hooking up with coilovers , want a good deal  will in coming months be fitting a 24m whiteline RARB

so top mounts thing i need these

rear mounts http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Skoda_Octavia_1.8_2002/p/car-parts/suspension-and-steering/suspension/suspension-mounting/?669440040&1&082aa3652f2f7b37365506e784bc71ff8a8aa264&000872

anything else you lot can suggest i do while the cars on axle stands?

many thanks sean

Bump stops may well need replacing too.

Suggest you go for the 24mm Whiteline RARB though, as the 24m one will be really thick and probably won't fit under your car. :giggle:

Yes - code BRISK25 or PCP25 gets you 25 percent off at Eurocarparts

right cheers for the comments guys and yes 24mm may be a better choice .

where can i get bumpstops from ? euro aswel?

I'd go for genuine top mounts - not much more from a dealer

alternatively you may wish to try Leon cupra r top mounts - meant to be a bit firmer, from Sere Motors you'll get a good deal

Was told when i got my compbrake dump valve that they would give a discount on dearer parts if asked 10% i think

you will need new bearings too. after that milage youll prob find the ones on there will fall apart.

I would just get std top mounts, the LCR ones are £30 iirc, Ill look thru my TPS papers.

x2 Top mounts

x2 Bearings

x2 Rear Bump stops

x2 Rear lower shock nut and bolt

x2 Front strut to Hub Nut and bolt

You might need the top rubber mounts that fit on the top of the rear springs too. they have a tendency for the metal in them to rust and they bubble up a bit. x2 if so.

think thats it mate.

All the PN are on here, think Bowders1 and Bodge made some threads with all the PN in, I might have some too in variouse threads.

Or you can buy my coilovers off me with new top mounts fitted recently.

Give me a shout if you need any prices on coilovers.

AMD Essex are doing their special deal again. To fit coilovers and carry out wheel alignment for £100+vat. Very cheap IMHO and well worth it, unless you really like doing the job yourself. Obviously, not good if you do not live near Essex, but for a 4 hour or so job, £100+vat is cheap.

They are also doing deals on maps and super pro bush kits.

All via their special offer section of their website.

Dave how much are you looking for your coilovers mate and what make are they?

They are weitec hicon gt. Really good coilovers

You can have them for £300 with the new top mounts

Drop me a text on 07811 110 549 ASAP and see if we can do a deal for you as your only up the road.

I had compbrake top mounts fitted but had issues with one side sticking and the spring was rotating and making a pinging noise. I bought them second hand though so they might have been worn. Also the nuts came loose so I put loctite on them. Ended up having to remove the nut with a dremel, damn loctite :)
