Dipped Beam Problem

Featured Replies

1 got 12.00V on the passanger side that looks to have normal light, and on the driver side which im having problems with im getting 11.94V

Took both bulbs out and switched on they both look like they are giving out the same lignt. Its got to be the lens???

hat shouldn't be enough of a difference to account for the issue you are having.

I've tried all sorts of bulbs, standard cheap, standard exspensive, Bosh All Weather.

Im now thinking its something to do with the lens, how hard is it to take the lights out?

IIs there a flat beam lever on the mk1?

I dont know there are 2 hex adjusters on each light, not sure if it does anything when i turn them.

Here are some pics i just took, its starting to pi$$ me off to the fact i avoid driving at night cos of people flashing.

Sorry, but a photo of 2 glaring white light masses shows exactly nothing, especially when they are taken at an angle! A photo of the beam shape on a plain wall at exactly right angles to it "might" have helped.

Have you taken the car to a garage to have them check it on a beam setting machine?

I know the photos are ****e but thought it would be better then nothing sorry if it upset you a little ha ha ha

Going to a garage next week when its pay day.

get the metre out again.

Running: 14V boths side

Not running 12V boths sides

You didn't upset me, you just posted useless photos! As I said, a photo of the light pattern on a plain wall would have been much more useful.

You have not got an electrical problem. Your problem is I think more to do with the adjustment of the lights, which personally I would have had checked first.

One thought, the driver's side light unit hasn't been replaced at some time, following an accident or break, has it? Could it be a LHD headlight or wrongly/badly fitted?

+1 on the above. L/H unit is a possibility, or simply not adjusted right.

Prob not any use either, them other pics are not really useless it just show how bright the drivers side is

Actually those are much more useful.

Has the off-side (drivers) side light been replaced at any time? It looks like a LHD one, plus it is adjusted too high.

not that i know of, is there any way i can tell?the driver side has like a metal spring that holds the back cover on but the other side dont.

Are they easy to replace?

There should be a spring loaded clip that holds the back of the bulb in the bulbholder. Without it the bulb doesn't sit right.

If you can take the r/h one out, post up the part number stamped on it. That'll prove or disprove it being a l/h unit.

how do they come out, is it a bumper off job.

There is a spring attached to the plastic cap the cover the light unit, only on the drivers side, the pas side fits on dif.
