Somebody quoted from the manual!!!!

User manual, page 164:

Caution

ï‚· Always check the oil level on vehicles with engine 1.2 ltr./44 kW when the engine is

cold, on other vehicles when the engine is warm. Otherwise the measuring result is

incorrect und oil could be incorrectly replenished - risk of engine damage!

confused???? :S

Interesting. Could that be a translation error in some manuals? In my Finnish manual it only states that the 1.2 ltr/44kw engine oil level should be checked cold. Nothing about other vehicles.

I also used a translator to check the Czech manual and it also sayed the same: "For vehicles with an engine 1.2 l/44 kW 2V (with two-valve technology) always check the oil level on a cold engine. Otherwise it could lead to erroneous measurements and thus to incorrect oil supplement - risk of engine damage!"

Atleast it makes a lot more sense. :)

That makes more sense as per what is good practice and what most people do.......I think the OP needs to get hold of Skoda UK! B)

Just to give an explanation on the differences between the manuals, I quoted what is written on the manual for production period 11/2010 - 04/2011, as that is my model.

It is true that in the user manual for production period 05/2011 - today they have removed the last sentence saying "other engines should be checked when warm."

But the text is there if you open a manual of the previous production period. Don't know why now it's omitted, but even with current text, the meaning of the sentence is (for me) "as opposed to checking when warm which is recommended for all other fabia engines, the 1.2 44KW should be checked when cold"

otherwise there is no point in stressing it out if its the same for all models...

I think someone had a brain fart writing the previous manual. :)

Probably omitted that sentence now because the text was confusing.

The 1.2 44KW engine is a special case and thus mentioned.

Personally I think the current text is more confusing because it just mentions one engine without saying anything for the others. At least in the previous version, it did a clear separation: 44kw cold/ others hot.

Hello I am new to this forum but would like to say at the moment my car has been in the Skoda Dealers for 4 days now while they investigate my problems. I have a small judder while idling and in sports also I have a problem with the oil consumption the car has used approx 5.5 litres in 10,000 miles. They have done a compressions check and it is way below what it should be for a car of its age. They have now done a full factory reset, new spark plugs and now the car seems to be running fine, and the compressions have raised back into the norm! ….. But Skoda still want the car in for more checks. They are going to do a 60 mile road test and they have also requested to ask what fuel I am using which is super unleaded! I am not 100% what Skoda are up to, but does anyone have any suggestions?

Some early TSI engined vRS/GTI and Cupra cars had problems with plugs and stuff but they have all either been fixed or not noticed yet. Something to do with fuel carbonising on something and stopping oil lubing blah blah... I forget what it actually said but something along those lines.
