Fuel tank lid

Featured Replies

Hi there

I have 2011 Skoda octavia II facelift and i have one doubt with the fuel tank lid. The fuel tank lid locking and unlocking operates from the car key, right. If I lock or unlock my car from center console button the fuel tank lid doesn't lock it self and one can open it with just pressing the fuel lid on the corner close to the rear bumper even if car is locked from inside using central console switch. Is it the proper way of fuel lid to function, if No then what is the VCDS setting for this.

On my 2009 FL Octy there is no lock on the fuel filler flap/lid, only on the screw on cap itself.

Only the lower spec cars (S level only?) have a key lock on the filler cap all others have the auto locking flap.

Alam, I would expect the centre console button to lock the filler cap. I'm sure someone will be along soon with the definative answer.

If you have locked the car with the centre console button, presumably you are inside, so how do you know that the fuel filler door is not locked?

Just curious.

Mine unlocks automatically but only if the doors are also unlocked and the key is out of the 'ignition' lock IIRC.

You are not the first person with the exact same question from India. It is normal and thats how it was designed to work I imagine its so that if you were to have car filled up by an attendant at a fuel station you could remain safely locked inside your car at the same time. If you search on here you might find the other thread on this it was not that long ago but I don't remember if anyone could help.

EDIT:

Just found other thread lol http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/211583-fuel-tank-lid/page__p__2497747__fromsearch__1#entry2497747 it was you aswell in intro part of forum im sorry you haven't got it sorted yet but just noticed on your other thread you asked about the dual rear fog lights there are defiantly more threads on here about this topic have a hunt you might be in luck on that one

That is the correct behaviour. The fuel flap only locks when the doors are deadlocked, which you cannot do from inside the car for safety reasons. Try lockimg the car from the outside with the remote by pressing the remote twice. This deactivates the interior monitor for the alarm and the deadlocks. This means the fuel flap is also unlocked and anyone inside the car can still open the doors.

Yes, quite right Stringbean. Just looked in my (UK spec.) handbook and the locking flap has a "*" by it, meaning "optional". Mine is a UK 'S'; so locking cap, not flap.
