I've got to agree with H17YD here, yes a remap is more personal to the car but as that came from a remapping company, it's hardly an unbiased view!

I have spoken with Ben @ Shark quite a bit and got to say, without a doubt I will be paying for him to remap my car when I get some more cash. He has answered a lot of questions I had and even offered to RR the Fabia with the tuning box on, he's gone out of his way to help me and I haven't even spent a penny with him yet, now that's a good company!

I was bought the TMC box as a present, at this current time I've had no problem with it and can definitely feel an improvement over the standard performance. For anyone worried about their warranty this would be the option to go for.

if you got a map , I would consider buying the box off you ;)

if you bought it off him, i'd like a go pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease ;)

I will keep you guys updated.

Will be at Pod in the new year testing the 1/4 mile time if anyone is interested :)

Interesting, I'm thinking about remapping. Really so I just hold interest in the car for longer as it makes more financial sense to keep it a bit longer, people are temping me with cheap leasing deals!

So, my question is. How much different does that extra grunt (or 1 less second to 60mph) actually feel? Are there any other differences, such as kickdown being more responsive?

i hit 100mph from standstill in just over 13 seconds. Standard car does it in about 18 seconds iirc. you think of the distance travelled at 100mph+ for the 5 second difference.

Equating the mph to a metres/second =((100mph / 3600) * 1600)

100mph = 44.5 metres/second

So in a 0-60 sprint My car can do it in 5.6seconds. standard car 6.8 seconds. That equals mapped car already being 1.2seconds ahead at 60 mph = 53m ahead.

my car is 5 seconds quicker to 100mph than standard. thats 220m ahead of the standard car.

In gear times are even more pronounced as well i think

Janner,

to be clear, what mods have you got to achieve that, do you have a dyno print out.... and how did you measure those times?

Those times were measured professionally at GTI International on the 1/4 mile strip. they have also been measured on VCDS as above and correspond with the GTI inters times. Id also add that on the satuirday conditions were less than perfect as it had been raining, and the surface at bruntingthorp is less than perfect(its like a pavement). My std tyres were struggling with first gear, so i short shifted to second everytime straightaway. Sticky tyres would mean more traction nd the use of first gear, so id say the 5.6seconds is only a drop in the water on the capability. I want a sub 5 second sprint

I have a slightly detuned stage 2 Shark Performance remap with a decatted OEM downpipe and forge intake. Once i have my intercooler and full exhaust system fitted i will have the full blown stage 2 setup done and hopefully around another 10hp possibly more.

This was without the intake fitted, so just the downpipe and map. Blue is mapped, red is standard.
