Steering wheel vibration

Featured Replies

Running a Skoda Fabia TDI 1.9 on a 55 plate 70000 miles on clock. Drove to airport 90 miles away journey OK car parked (not under cover) for one week. On drive home was getting a lot of steering wheel vibration (and could feel vibration through the accelerator ) between about 55 to 65mph so kept speed to about 50 and got home OK. Next day car was OK with no steering wheel vibration. Quite a lot of water and leaves lying in front scuttle below windscreen so had obviously rained while we were away. I can only assume the damp has got in somewhere. No warning lights came on and the car had passed its MOT only 10 days previously.

Any possible suggestions of what the problem may be if it happens again Joe.

Vibration on steering wheel is often related to mis-balanced wheels.

However, as you say it only happened temporarily, this would probably rule this out. Odd one. :S

gunk on the brake discs? maybe the reason its not returned? i am not sure tho but as long as its gone it should be fine was probably the result of that car been sat for a week without use.

the discs quickly accumulate surface rust..may just have needed it to be erased.
