hi

how do i remove the spoiler and the bonnet

on a 2004 octavia vrs

also does the plastic petrol cover just clip off

as dont want to snap it

I think the bonnet is just 2 bolts per side. Pass on the spoiler and fuel filler cap.

ok thanks thought the spoiler was 4 allen keys but removed them and wouldnt shift

so put them back in

will try bonnet later as will need 2 of us

For the bonnet:-

1) Scribe round the hinge lands. You'll need this info when replacing it.

2) Find a strong mate, 2 if possible.

3) Loosen the hinge bolts.

4) Using the mate(s) to support the bonnet, remove the bolts.

5) Lift bonnet away from car, and place against a wall.

No idea about the spoiler beyond that it may, repeat may, be bonded as well as bolted into place.

Are you removing the spoiler to sell it...

Spoiler is bonded in place, strong fishing line is something i heard was good to use as it doesn't damage owt.

Use a hair dryer. To warm the boot lid slighty to make it softer then use the fishing line, leave the screws in just loose so it doesn't just fall off, doing it 1/2 at a time so one screw is in place.

Don't wanna drop it.

For the fuel flap you need to get in under liner and fiddle lol

Spoiler is fixed by 4 allen screws and a bonded seal around where the spoiler sits on end side. (to stop water getting in boot). Not too difficult to remove though. Get a helper.

Remove the allen screws

Boil the kettle

Tip the water around the spoiler base on each side.

Then with a helper slowly twist up the spoiler

keep pouring water on the bases a you twist spoiler up

job done....
