Twitter

Featured Replies

I'll be honest, I know nothing of the twitter. I keep hearing about it in the popular media, but what actual use is it?

I signed up along with other social media-ists but I can't help thinking it's just a platform for gob5hite celebrities to spew forth their inane ramblings for anyone who's interested.

I logged on during the UK Riots to check whether they'd burned down my local Rythm N Booze, but apart from that, I just cannot assimilate with the Tweeteratti.

Anyone? Twitter? Anyone?

Has its uses, but like facepalm is just another 'look at me' platform for celebs and pseudo identities.

I use it, I follow certain celebrities but it's mostly used to keep up with what's happening in my industry (telecommunications) I follow manufacturers and they actually follow me back I also follow other engineers and companies.

I tweet about what i'm doing and if I have any problems I can sometimes get support from twitter quicker than logging a fault call and waiting for them to get back to me!

I use it regularly to send quick messages to my cousin in Japan and to follow others who are into F1 or cars. Most follow back too and when a F1 race is on there's loads of chat going on. I prefer it to Facebook purely because there's less chavs on it. Facebook has turned into Bebo ffs! OT but I'd like to see Google+ take off

It's a shiny willy waver for senior managers and bbc employees.

Twitter starts with a twit, and is populated by twit tards; what do you expect?

tw@ter is for people to tell you how they have no life/a huge ego and expect you to be interested in every thought and movement in their pityful existance.

Although I have an account, I never use it. I only created the account so I could unlock some levels in Angry Birds on my iPhone.

Think of it a little like setting your status in facebook but limited to 140 characters. I've been using it for around 18 months now.... has a couple of main uses as far as i'm concerned....

1. I follow some of the F1 drivers, teams, BBC presenters and you get some pretty good behind the seens info & pictures tweeted by them. The car launches especially as you see the pics as they pull the covers off the car as though you are there etc... Another sport related thing for me is that both the Sheffield ice hockey sides have twitter accounts and tweet goal by goal updates etc... also Sheffield FC tweet latest scores etc... which is handy as their stuff is hard to find on normal sporting websites.

2. If you have mates on there it's good to have a general discussion between yourselves maybe when arranging nights out etc.....

3. The wife is also on Twitter and uses it to send me pics to my phone instead of MMS as she gets charged something like 50p per MMS where as to send me the pic on twitter costs nothing. (She has unlimited texts but when it comes to MMS she gets charged 50p a go... I, on the other hand, have a limited amount of texts per month so just get 2 or 3 texts taken off for every one MMS i send etc....)

I aso follow quite a few of the new up and coming Sheffield bands / acts etc... who are all on twitter and give out a lot of info regarding gigs etc... via there twitter feeds.

Cheers

Dave.

I use it in telecoms to follow what's happening, see what Government and Ofcom are up to, for road travel updates, all sorts really. Can't be a&$ed following celebrities though.
