Rear windscreen washer not working

Featured Replies

Noticed monday gone that rear windscreen washer was not working, thought because water in reserver was low that there may not be enough to reach the back, so i topped up today only to find its still not working.

Next step was to make sure washer jet was not blocked (all ok).

Got into car turned on rear washer and i could hear the water running but not going on the screen.

Opened the boot to find it full of screen wash, the pipe going to the rear wipe had come of

Nice smell but a soaking wet boot now.

Is this a common thing? because im worried it will happen again, think ill put a clip on the pipe.

Hi there just had my octy 3 weeks now same problem soaking boot floor its going in on sat.

Its an easy fix, the pipe behind the trim has become separated at one of the joints. Mine did it last year and it took the dealer about 20 seconds to fix.

Hi id have sorted it but its going in for some more bits sorting so they may as well do the lot, great car though.

Yes, it seems to be fairly common on the Hatch but less so on the Estate.

Mine's doing this too. Was going to wait till the service to resolve it as the clips that hold on the trim are rather fiddly.

Had the same happen to mine, but didn't bother testing myself and left it to the service which was due very shortly, so no boot full of water. However, garage didn't do a very good job of putting the plastic boot facia panel back on, it rattled badly. Removed it and put it on myself - can see why they only did half a job with it, it is difficult to line all the clips up when looking at it upside down with the hatch fully open if you so what I mean. In answer to the original question then, it does appear to be a relatively common fault.

Furbies seem more prone to the hose coming unclipped at the other end under the bonnet for some reason.

Both of my friends with them have had this happen.

Thanks for the feed back guys, ill defo be putting a clip on that pipe now.

Its an easy fix - pop the trim off carefully and push the pipe back on. Having had to do this a couple of times there's a good trick for getting the trim back on. Normally, when you take the trim panel off, the metal clips come off with the trim panel. Now... if you take all of the clips off the trim panel and attach them to the hatch instead, the trim panel goes back on with a bit of "gentle persuasion". I can do the whole job in under 5 minutes, so you shouldn't need the dealer to do it.

HTH! :)

Mines was caused by the installers of the "hidden" green strobes in the rear light clusters being too brutal with the rear internal panels....gets!!!:mad:

It's still misting up after ten months but there are no leaks: apart from that stupid one caused by the poor design of the hatch when you open it after the rain and all the water falls on top of very expensive medical (electronic in a lot of cases!) kit!

Anyone know if they fixed this on the MKII???

It's one of two things that really BUGS me about the Octy :mad:

The second one is the position of the cigarette lighter: who the heck thought that was a good place to stick it?
