OK, couple more questions:

How do you take the calipers apart? I can see two 7mm hex bolts which I've undone but the caliper appears to be held togethher with a big spring clip that I can't figure out how to remove? Want to strip them to paint them as they're not green :D

Also, what should the thickness be on a pair of 312mm discs? The pair that came in the box don't look very worn at all but I thought I'd check anyway...

OK, I can now confirm that this is a job that most people with minimal mechanical ineptness and a socket set can manage... :)

PS anybody who wants a set of audi TT discs with very little wear is welcome to come and pick them up from me for free, or maybe a pint if you're feeling generous :)

I'd need a new set of hubs first before attempting anything like this. :(
