You need to get a diagnostics check done (Vagcom etc) which should reveal the source of the problem.

Your car has been going into limp mode which will have stored a fault code in the ECU,

Hi Guys....

Sorry to hijack the thread,,but I didn't want to start a new thread for the same problem.

I have the same problem,,but it's going on for 2 years or more now. I have the 02 1.9 TDi.

I have fault codes which are as follows...

17656...Injector Start Deviation

17965...Charge Pressure Control Position Deviation.

Any ideas?? I'd really really love to get it sorted finally...

Thanks.

17965 is the key one. Does it say positive or negative deviation? That can be key. :)

I'm not really sure...My mechanic never said....He just wrote out the fault codes the way they are.

He's a fairly busy guy,,and with the car being so old,and with money the way things are,,I don't get to see him that often, hence why I haven't got it sorted yet.

So,,what would either one mean? If it was positive what problem would it be?

If it was negative,,what would it be?

positive deviation means overboost, the engine then drops into limp mode to stop any damage.

And,,what would it mean if it was negative??

He did say somethng before alright about overboosting...

Presumably underboost, i.e. despite the ecu's best efforts it can't make enough boost.
