Cornering Front Fog Lights

Featured Replies

I know this has been done to death, but it amazes me that my local Skoda dealer is completely clueless about how to turn the cornering front fog lights and twin rear fogs lights on.

They finally managed to turn on the second rear fog light on the Scout a few years ago but claimed the cornering front fogs weren't possible.

My vRS was in today so I asked them to do the same, got the car back today, you guessed it, no joy :dull:

I know that there are a few Skoda techies on here, could I trouble you to let me have the procedure required to activate these two functions on the unique Skoda dealership software.

I understand it's pointless quoting VCDS stuff to them as it's different to the system that they use? I know the easiest option is to find someone local with VCDS but to date I've had no joy.

To be able to take it back to the dealer and say plug it in and follow this (show them the procedure) would be fantastic!

Was always under the impression that the Vrs cant be done??

The only requirement is a 30byte Highend CECM and the know how

it can be done, but I dont think the dealer will be able to do it. Their VAS diagnostic tool is quiet limiting on what additional settings you can apply, your best bet is to find someone with VCDS as you can do far more with this than the dealer can with their software.

The detail of how you do it, is also dependent on the level of the VCDS used.

Well the dealer finally managed to activate the second rear fog light but the cornering fog lights still have them stumped!

Nevermind, as mentioned above, I think their dealer based software isn't as comprehensive as VCDS.

I've searched and PM'd two local members with VCDS without success. Anyone in or around the York area willing to help?

Cheers,

Roy.

I've had this enabled on my vRS since last year. As others have found, the dealer can't do this. I was lucky enough to find a helpful local owner with VCDS who did it for me FOC.

To be honest its not worth getting too worked up about. Its a nice to have, but not really a massive impact. In normal driving it has no effect whatsoever, low speed manoeuvring it is a benefit if there are low kerbs and no street lighting but you're not missing much if you haven't got it enabled..

I am not being negative but I dont see the point in activating cornering fogs as they pretty much dont do a great deal when you are driving. I have driven cars with them and didnt even realise they were active. Thats how little they worked! Plus even when parking they dont add a lot more light. I think these are gimmicky as the light emitted from the headlight is more than enough to see where you are going. Either way good luck in getting them activated

+1 - they don't 'make a world of a difference'!! u barely notice it.

the afs (bending) xenons render the need for it.

i did mine last week cause a mate let me borrow his vcds cable & laptop with the vcds software installed on it.

dealer would charge me $150 to enable cornering foglights.

i did the cornering fogs, ch/lh with fogs, drl dim with indicator & bluetooth coding, all by myself - for free ;)

below is the steps i used with vcds to enable cornering Foglights:-

Control Module > [09] Central elec / Coding / Long coding helper / byte14 / bit 5, Check the box.

Exit

Do it

It can - I have it done on mine.

OP - PM Simbo - he lives in Bradford - if you're willing to travel to him he'll do it for you - spends most of his time on twitter though! @Simbo_
