At last, i'm ready to venture the way of the mk1 VRS...

Featured Replies

Hi to all, my name is rob and i'm getting on a bit :giggle:

I've been registered on here for a while now, tho prob still classed as a newbie! Been on the look out for a decent model; ideally low-ish mileage, service history, if modded, done professionally etc.

I'd be grateful for any pointers to what to look out for, when i should walkaway from a minger etc. I'd love it in black or silver and pref. with xenons, cruise etc., (get an SE i here you all scream!!) tho the likes of these have caught my eye:

what d'ya reckon?

Looking to spend (or should i say get my work to loan me) upto £10K - not paying OTT - but need a proper car for work asap. Not interested in the flappy paddle auto dubrie-wotsit mk2 lol.

Based in the herts/london area, but willing to travel for the right one.

Any help wld just be fab. My other long-termer is an '91 uno turbo and have been on that scene for yonks, so wld be nice hooking up with the oil-burner frat ;)

Look fwd to yr chats/shouts/pokes etc..

cheers,

robstaaaar

PS. D'OH! SHLD HAVE SAID I MEANT FABIA VRS :giggle:

Hi and welcome aboard.

welcome to briskoda

Hello, welcome & go for the yellow one!

I don't know enough on Mk1 Fabbys to give any advise, but welcome to Briskoda. I'm sure someone will be along who does!

In order and funds/insurance no object, I'd go for Warwick Hunt's, Trevor's, and then the yellow eBay one. Yellow one is overpriced for just a hybrid IMO, for less money I got one in yellow with the same mods but a limited slip diff as well. Granted, I don't have cruise control or xenons, but the cruise control is only a couple of hundred quid to retrofit so I could easily get that.

I've seen Trevor's at the Shark open day and it looks great (unlike Trevor, who'd just come off a night shift and a long drive and looked like he'd done a few miles). The Mk1 looks great in white, especially with the white alloys he had on it.

And Warwick Hunt's speaks for itself, it's in the top 3 peak bhp vRSs I've heard of on Briskoda, and there's virtually nothing you could spend money on after buying that even if you wanted to. So it's expensive but there's a reason for it.
