My new alloys :)

Featured Replies

Thanks very much to AD007 (Andy) for selling the 16" Octavia vRS alloys to me, have to say they look completely different to my Fabia vRS alloys in the flesh & seem to look bigger which is always a good thing.

Anyway, no one cares about that. Here's a picture of what they look like.

They will be fitted this week so will post some pics once they are on

I thought the fabia vRS wheels were 16" like these anyway.Ours look like these

They are slightly different in design though - the Fabia vRS wheel has a lot more surface area around it, especially in the middle. You'd have to see the wheels together in the same photo/post to be able to tell the difference. I have to say I prefer the octy wheels myself, given the sole choice of just the two designs.

I see.Good idea about posting a picture of them side by side I think.Would like to see that.

I had always simply assumed they were the ones used on the estate.Obviously not! Wonder if anyone else knew there was a difference?

Hmm, i has a chance to buy some octy wheels the same as those, but i have to say i prefer the stock ones.........ho hum each to his own.

Here we go - I nabbed the above wheel piccie, and nabbed one out of a recent classifieds advert too. So here they are, one above the other. Octy one first, then furby one.

Thanks.Yep,distinct difference. Both buggers to clean though!

Still a quality design though even after four years.

Time to go and clean our cars I think :)

Looks clean enough to eat off

The Octavia wheels are so much better than the horrible Fabia vRS ones. I wonder why the dealer said he couldn't supply any alternative wheels when I bought the car? Could someone please advise whether the Octavia ones the exact same size (including width and offset) as the Fabia ones? Anyone have any idea how much the Octavia ones are new?

I so disagree with you. I think the Fabia vRS alloys are MUCH better than the 16" Octavia wheels.

What is horrible about the Fabia wheels? I think they are nice and chunky...

Its just changing for changings sake IMO. If your going to put new wheels on they may as well be bigger.

Wheels are the same size, the tyres however are not.

Why didnt you go for the 17" octy wheels??

I so agree with you, was going to post something simular.

I think the Octy alloys are very nice, but if I were to get them it would be the 17's, however I think Skoda have done a nice job on the Fab vRS standard alloys :)

The standard Fabia vRS wheels are very crude - as I mentioned I tried to get them changed before delivery. The Octavia wheels pictured above are much more elegant and considered... Anyone want to swap?

IMO I wanted something different to the standard alloys and really I wanted 17" Octavia vRS alloys however I have mentioned the drawbacks of getting 17" alloys already, and for me anyway I could not warrant that change over, and in the flesh the 16" ones look large, captured quite well in that picture.

Of course thats all down to personal taste ;)

I have some Fabia vRS alloys for sale with tyres if anyone wants them?

I like the design of both and presume they are both described as 'spider'?

As mentioned before I think the general design is quality.Normally I am very much a 5 spoke person .

As to the difference between the 2 it never even crossed my mind that they were different in anything but size despite cleaning them both diligently most weekends with an ear bud!I can see it now though.

I reckon only the owners will see the difference and I bet most fab owners hadn't spotted it ;)

Thats the best bit, it's subtle, I dont want to make it evident to an insurance company, and Admiral have confirmed it's ok to go ahead without affecting my premium since they are both manufacturer alloys, just on different cars :)

Also something to note which isn't evident in that picture is that the Octavia alloys dip much more like a "spider" in the centre, whereas the Fabia ones only dip a bit, this makes the spokes look longer and the alloy look larger.

Without a doubt the Octavia vRS 17" alloys look the bees b@ll@cks but I couldnt warrant getting them mainly down to the cost of having to get 4 new tyres, also things such as the handling 0-60, in gear acceleration would all be affected aswell as the road noise which I think is the Fabia's achilles heel anyway.

wow...erm....nice...er blacked out windows....and...erm....logo etchings....and alloys look great....erm.....err.....5 doors?.....thats like...so cool

Seriously Fabia Owners, try not to spoil what's already a decent looking little car with ned-windows and phat alloys, leave that for the nova/corsa/clio girls

How about you do what you like to your car (if you own one), and let others do the same. In out community we discuss things in a civilised and (usually) constructive way. We share experiences and advice. We don't insult for the sheer hell of it or provoke arguements.

By the way, I happen to love the tints and the 5 spokes, really suit the car. Not all of us want, or can afford the vRS.

What do you drive Spot? Pics and specs would be nice. Are you old enough to drive?

Ahem, I don't mind criticism of my car's appearance, but the tinted rear windows help keep thieving eyes off all my audio and I have no etchings, merely a few stickers to help promote Briskoda.

5 doors? They all come with 5 doors. There's also "phatter" alloys out there should people want them. Those 5 spokes are about the narrowest you can get. Someone here runs around in a TDI with 17" wheels an inch wider than mine.

Anyway, like I say, criticism is fine, but to say leave car modifying to the paxo/corsa brigade is a little unfair. We all like to customise our cars, its just with Skoda's you don't need loads of body filler, dodgy spoilers, neons and stuff. ;)

congratulations on your civilised banter, i'm glad you take pride in your postings - i simply noted whats known as "an opinion" and with Freedom of speech on the internet as it is, i think i did ok

there you go, thats your opinion, much similar to my opinion above....well done lad *pats back*

I'm not one for bull****, I'm 32 and i drive a pretty old, pretty tired 306 diesel with starship miles, i bought it before i ventured up north for 800quid, its a decent little runaround to be honest and costs next to nout to insure - i've owned some fairly respectable motors through the years but when faced with ploughing all you own into buying a business you make do with scraping by with something cheap, anything else sir?

Some opinion. Sound distinctly like an instruction to me. An opinion would need the word "I" in it somewhere? Or maybe I am just a moron. :finger:

I am not in anyway suggesting that people should not express their opinions, as long as they are just that, opinions. A little respect wouldn't go a miss. If you feel "phat" alloys and "ned-windows" spoil a car, then by all means say that you aren't too keen, but I won't tolerate somebody telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing to my car, and don't expect anybody else to tolerate it. Merely stating that there is no need to be down right offensive.
