Remap effect clutch?

Featured Replies

Looking at remapping, my car has 59k on it clutch seems fine and healthy. Just wondering at this stage would the sudden jump of power effect the clutch?

only if you drive like a loon!

In what sense? I do like to drive the car a bit but don't launch the car.

the clutch is not really the issue its the ****e DMF which will give up. I have just taken deliver of a G60/VR6 clutch and flywheel upgrade in preperation for my remap.

Mine was fine and I did give it grief most of the time

Cheers lads

A remap is going to give you a torque boost and torque is what kills clutches. It will wear faster than on a non remapped car but exactly how long it will last will depend on your use and how drive it.

Had the remap on for 4.5 years on std clutch without issue. On 75k now.

Had mine mapped at 80k and it killed clutch in no time but suspect it was prob on its last legs anyway as cars spent most of its life town driving,

Now have g60/vr6 conversion and its brilliant,

Also depends on the map. Some maps have a huuuuuge torque spike and some are kinder to clutches.

My 150,000 mile/10year old clutch copes with 275ft/lb or torque, I give it some grief to.
