Xenons?

Featured Replies

Getting a set of the hids or xenons. Don't want them to look to tacky. Just want nice better light, what temp should I go for 6k or 4.3k? Assuming standard ones would be 4.3 or there about

4300k will give you substantially more light on the road.

6000k will look totally wicked like!emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

Your choice! emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Lol, nice description man

If your putting them into standard lights i wouldn't bother you just blind everybody coming other way,

I was going to get a set of bulbs and try them in foglight projectors

Never blinded people in any of my previous cars, just need to make sure there aligned properly

Alignment isn't the issue, the glare caused by fitting xenons in halogen lamps is!

I'm thinking of putting them in my mk1, they wouldn't dazle me so it's ok! To he'll with the others, they should get better lights too.

How have I never once had an issue in the past? I had them in all my cars never had one complaint of it blinding people. I don't see y the octavia would be different?

From January they are part of the MOT, no self levelling or no washers and your car will fail its annual test

That's pants. Hopefully it doesn't come into effect here

Thank god for that, people don't realise how awful these lights are at dazzling other road users

selfish comments such as "light up the road better" or "never had any complaints" are not helpful - without proper beam alignment and washers they can be very dangerous for other road users

sooner people stop fitting them as a fashion statement the better

That's only if these options are fitted to the car as standard, I can think of lots of cars that don't have levelling options or washers.

Vous êtes un fin clocher massif :wonder:

Ok, for the thickos, from Jan 2012, if you have plasma discharge lights fitted, your car will fail the MOT if it does not also have headlight washers and self-levelling.

You'll find out in due course.

As for the comment to hell with other drivers, who will they run into if your lights ad re dazzling them? You!

OK, I've been and looked up the facts, after Jan 2021 they will be an advisory, April onwards a fail, no plans for this to apply to aftermarket fit yet, but they must not dazzle or they are a fail.

Thank you, someone with sense who unlike the other post isn't a thicko as the others are who are trying to scare monger!

If you have plasma discharge lights fitted as standard from whenever this rule comes in on cars registered after that date it will be mandatory etc etc, they won't backdate and force modifications on cars. Hence why you can still pass an mot in a car with no rear seatbelts fitted if the car wasn't manufactured with them fitted.

I'll have you know this the Octy 1 section, we don't talk like that to each other in here.

That's how fabia 1 owners speak :giggle:

I have xenons on my Octy, but I went the proper route and fitted them with OEM projector housings. It cost more but gave the desired result without blinding everyone else.

May be failable from the 01/01/12:
