My idles around 900/950... Is this nornal? Cars always been like this and never had an problems as such, just wonder more than anything.

sounds about right.

Haynes manual says something like 800-950 (from memory) for the diesels, so sounds about right. I've seen a few photos of people's dashes when running on here (normally to show the fuel consumption output, and normally a vRS), and they all seem to be indicating 1000rpm or 1-2 needle-widths below it.
