Refurb or new alloy?

Recommended Posts

My wife has managed to really badly kerb the front nearside alloy whilst avoiding an oncoming overtaking vehicle. I've not had an alloy refurbed before. There is a fair amount of metal thats been scraped away round most of the rim. Is it worth taking it to a refurb specialist, or would I be better off just buying a new wheel? If it has to be a new wheel any tips on where is best to purchase? Or anyone have an alloy they want to sell? Thanks.

There are a few on eBay for between £150 and £180 pounds but if I remember correctly they are around that price from Skoda.

Is yours 17" or 18"? Do a search for 'Zenith'

Skoda actually list the 17" on their accessory website for £146.00.

A good refurb will set you back about £50.

I know which I'd rather pay for :giggle:

A good refurb will cost upwards of £50 a wheel and you'd never know it had been refurbed afterwards. I wouldn't waste my money on a new wheel.

Post a pic up of the damage, but from what you're saying a refurb will sort the issue.

Only problem really comes from when you 'really' damage a wheel, either cracking it, taking *big* chunks out of it or it ends up out of true. That's when you start looking at replacements :)
