Learn to drive at 14

Featured Replies

I was near the local test centre today and saw an instructors car with a big advert saying the above (not WTF mind)

Anyone heard of this ??

My lil sister is quite tall, she's been about 5ft 6inches since about 12yrs old(she's 14 now)

i've taken her to carparks to drive my manual cars a few times. she even drove and bay parked my Porsche track car when she was 13yrs old. i say get them behind the wheel young as possible, cos not everyonr has the same oppotunities to drive before they 17yrs old, normally it's only people in rural areas that will have had a fews go's in old bangers before they come of age. us city/town folk don't really get a chance in our younger years.

It makes me think of "EasyDrive", where kids who can see over the wheel and reach the pedals are taught road driving on private land like race circuits. It used to be based at Silverstone, but Castle Combe and Pembrey are both near you.

I think they were doing something similar at Tockwith between York & Harrogate a while back

they used to do it at my old school faytes. but it was for year 10's and 11's only so 14 upwards

I learnt the basics of driving in a old Austin 16(I think) around a field that was owned by a family friend at around 12-13 years old and it taught me a lot. I suppose the only downside to learning at that age is the temptation to hone your new found skills by 'borrowing' a car for a bit of road practice, not that I did of course

I think Ken may have it or there abouts

This was on a proper school of motoring car, so must legit, so I guess something like Ken has suggested could be the answer

i admit i think i stupidly honed my skills when i was 16yrs old on the road when my mums written off skoda Felicia Estate was sitting on the drive.

so the first ever car i drove was a 1.6 felly, and funnily enough i know own and LEGALLY drive one 7yrs later

At school I went on a BSM driving course at 15/16 years old. It was done after school at our local Kart Track.

Yea bsm do a simulator thing and then take you out in private land, similar to a moped cbt thing. They came to our 6th form when when I was there.
