hello all

just two quick questions i hope you can help with

first I'm thinking of getting a cat back exhaust for my car i always had miltek in the past but i might be able to get some discount on a piper one what are they like? are they loud as I'm not after anything loud.

secondly what are the difference between the 225 and the 180 20v engines? do they use the same turbo and main parts and its just mapping that gives the extra?

Different turbo (k04 instead of k03s) plus wider intake and downpipe, different injectors and fuel pressure regulator and different ECU map. And 2 intercoolers instead of 1

generally attached to the BAM engine as well, is it not?

Ah so not an easy oem upgrade then so there goes that idea lol

It's do-able on the Octavia but you'd probably need to spend a couple of grand to get all the parts together. The engine internals aren't really a must have, just the turbo, hoses, downpipe and fuelling stuff.

Not easy to fit a 2nd intercooler on an Octavia but one large one would do the job.

K04 turbo is good for 260ish bhp with a remap too

Not just to the BAM engine as that is Seat Cupra R. There are variants of the Audi TT,S3 that are slightly different.

The BAM engines do have stronger internals.

Actually it is doable, as you do not need to have the stronger engine internals to get the power that a K04 turbo will deliver. The std engine in the Octy VRS is good for safe 270/280 BHP some will even go to say 300.

All the 225 BHP engine found in TT/S3/Cupra R's run the bigger K04 turbo's as this is needed to get more power.

Fitting a K04 with give approx 260BHP so well under limits of std engine.

The 150 VW/Skoda 1.8 turbos have a K03 turbo whereas the 180BHP Octy VRS/Golf 1.8 anniversary/Audi TT 2WD have the slightly bigger K03s turbo. This turbo still runs out of puff even taking the car with a remap( I have stage 2)

So yes can add the bolt on goodies like turbo, intake, intercoolers, injectors MAF etc. from the BAM engine and 225 variants on parts to get 225BHP performance or better with a remap.

It is costly but when you way up what I have spent getting 226BHP on my there is not a lot in it.

I would have gone bigger turbo knowing what I know now

I have a milltek cat backnfor sale if you fancy a bargain?
