Double Lumbar Supports?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was the lucky recipient of a Yeti Greenline II Elegance Demo today and have it until the was interested to try out the 'Double Lumbar Support' feature on the front seats but... I guess the 11 reg doesn't have these, it's just a lever that seems to work in one area. Does anyone have newer version and can they explain what the double lumbar support is?

Cheers...

The only double lumbar supports I have seen on a VAG car is when they have electric seats.

If you really need a decent lumbar support (like I do) then don't order anything other than electric seats otherwise you will be dissapointed.

The double lumbar support with the electric seat is brilliant. I can drive the car for hours without any pain, unlike previous cars.

The passenger seat only has the lever......

The electric seat does not have double lumbar! It is still just ONE mechanism that can be adjusted fore and aft and up and down. So I don't see how that makes it "double"?!

Does the double perhaps refer to the passenger having one and the driver having one too? :giggle:

But the electric one is very good indeed. When I do travel in the passenger seat and play with that one lever it is awful. It just swings something down. So the further you pull it down the futher forward it moves. The electric one is lovely by contrast and you can set it exactly as you like it.

Ah - Johann, I do believe you have solved my mystery... 2 seats - amazing isn't it. I have also had an electric adjuster on a car I borrowed before and that's what I was hoping for. Unfortunately the company budget doesn't stretch to electric seats (or rather mine doesn't as I will have to pay for the options in full).

Here's keeping my fingers crossed for an early delivery...

Hi Johann,

How good is the memory on the electric seat.

Does it remember, recline, height, forward and back etc or is it restricted.

Cheers, Fuzzy

It has ample movement. I've never reached a point where I felt it did not go far enough. It also has enough feet room under it for the rear passenger sitting behind the driver (which can be an issue in some cars with electric seats). The seat base can also be adjusted up and down independently at the front or back (something the manual seat can't do). The backrest goes forward and back, the whole seatbase goes forward and back and the lumber goes up and down and in and out.

As to memory you get three and you can set one memory to key 1 and another to key 2. Thus two drivers can drive the car and when they open the door (after unlocking with THEIR key) the seat and exterior mirrors automatically move to their position WITHOUT having to press the relevant number on the seat control panel.

This is the controls on a seat:

The round button on the right controls the lumber.

I quite like that 2 tone interior.....

Wow thanks for that!

Pretty impressive, certainly put that on the list for my next yeti.

;)

The lumbar support settings are also saved in the memory

However, whilst possibly a minor point, the memory recline can be set no further back than 103 degrees which personally leaves me sitting bolt upright. So having hit my memory button I keep having to tweak the recline lever to get back in my position. Not a problem if you're the only driver of course because you can leave it at that recline setting, but an annoyance if you're changing drivers semi frequently. I don't think even VCDS can adjust the memory recline setting :'(

Edit, looking at the Superb 2 forum it seems that VCDS can set the seat memory to accept a rake greater than 103 degrees. Now for me that would be useful!

I wonder if that is a default setting that has something to do with not crushing a passenger in the rear seat directly behind when changing drivers.

This was discussed in the original thread that I linked below the photos above....... I don't sit bolt upright and as stated before the seat has ample adjustment to sit "normally". :giggle: Quite a few people on here have the electric seat option and not one has thus far had an issue with the backrest angle. We are all of different shapes so I suspect this is something that you need to test before you tick this option. But for most people it will be just fine.

I've got the electric seat option and I'm not complaining that there is not enough overall adjustment, there's more than enough. BUT you cannot set the seat position to store the recline more than 102 degrees. If I recline the seat to that 102 degrees which is the max then I'm sitting bolt upright and too near the steering wheel and need to recline the seat more on the switch. Not the end of the world but it would have been nice to have been able to store the seat position wherever you want without this limitation. I now understand that VCDS can overcome this.
