I'm curious about you stipulating a March reg. When I order my new one I'll want to do the same and catch the newest reg.

I remember reading somewhere that Skoda UK/dealers have a condition that the car has to be registered within 15 days of delivery.

Have you managed to get something in stone/writing that you won't be held to this?

Assume if it arrives early it just sits at the dealers until the new reg?

I'm just interested in this too.

I cannot see why a dealership would want to be storing a car for 2 months.

I'm not that bothered, just wondering if people are assuming they will be able to wait or they actually have something in writing.

We had a similar issue with 60 plates and people with cars arriving 14 days before the end of the month were told they couldn't wait until Skoda UK stepped in and allowed it.

When I ordered I was told as an estimate beginning of Feb 12, so I said in that case I would like to wait till 1st March but I understand there's a 10 day rule?

My salesman said yes there is but it wont be a problem for the sake of a few days. So signed up. Order confirmed a build week of 48 was emailed to me but email also says this could easily be put back as in most cases does.

So just need to wait and see but I have said now that I am wanting a 12 plate due the the original conversation and build estimates, although dont have a formal written 'yes we will supply it on 1.3.12'. My dealer is really good though so I have confidence they will do their best for the customer.

So you have something in writing from the dealership stating that the car will be stored, if the car arrives before 1st March?

In a word NO.

Then you're going to have problems, I can foresee, if the car does arrive by the end of January.

Both in terms of them actually wanting to keep the car on-site for that length of time, and also with the stipulations in the T&Cs of the current Skoda deal.

I would go back to the salesman you dealt with, and seek written clarification.

Yeah, already emailed him. The skoda terms of the offer state that the car must be registered and delivered by 31st March 2012, offer ends in 31st december for ordering, VAT etc

You'll also find some terms about how quickly the car is to be registered, once it's delivered to the dealership.

Kerrbryan - Hopefully will all work out.

I didn't ask to try and make you worry, more just thought if you managed to get an agreement I'd be looking for the same when I order.

I've more or less decided I fancy a new vRS but in September next year as it works better financially for me.

So I'll be thinking about the best time to order, I guess May/June time but on one hand wouldn't want it early but wouldn't want it late either!

Dougall - financially if skoda don't extend the vat free offer you'll be paying 4k+ more. Order one by end of December!! Financial sense :)

Don't tempt me! I hope offers continue but also drive the deal prices etc will normally get a fairly decent discount.

Will be interesting to see how you go with the dealer in Ayr. I'm up in Aberdeen and the Skoda dealer is not the best. No way they would match dtd prices and feels like they are doing you a favour of selling you a new car. Out of interest I got a trade in price for my current Ocatavia.......they offered less than webuyanycar.com

For a decent price and good dealer I'd rather go down your way a bit

I will travel for the right car at the right price. Went to London for a mini s and Sheffield for my current fabia vrs. :)

Thats my mum went and ordered a Monte Carlo Fabia 105ps in Red from the same dealer. Shes getting it in a few weeks as it was built and in the country!

Going to make my wait that wee bit harder! :(

Cant recommend Ingram in Ayr enough though. Service A+ (so far) Top guys :)

You'll just have to wash it every couple of hours/minutes to keep it looking good. :giggle:

Suitably amended B)

Cryogenics might do the trick for the waiting period ;)

Candy white is a good choice!

I had this problem with the registration, mine was due mid-July but I wanted it first of September for a 61 plate, no problem at all, the dealer just put in that the car was required for 23 August, car was held at the port and was due to be dispatched from the dock to the dealer in time for the 23 August ready for sept 1st, as it happened mine arrived early July at the port and I am not a patient person, so I requested it to be drawn from the port sooner, so they had to readjust my order with a new date and the car was then put on the next available transporter and arrived at the dealer a few days later.

So although there is a 10 day rule, if the dealer doesn't request it until a certain date then there isn't much they can do, the rule applies to 10 working days after arrival at the dealer, so if it doesn't arrive until say February 24th for example then it's all within the terms of the deal, check with your dealer what the requested date is, if need be get them to adjust the required delivery date to about a week before the new reg plate and the job will be a good one! Just get and keep a copy of the printed order done by the dealer, I have a copy of mine which is dated for my original required date August 23rd for September 1st registration.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this. The dealer has said "dont worry theres things we can do to ensure you get a 12 plate", so although they havent specifically said, i assume it will be along these lines. Plus they now have got 2 new car orders from me in just over a week. :)

Congrats on your order. I will be stipulating March 1st registration for mine if I go for the Octavia. May I ask if the Dealer gave you much of a deal over and above the 0 VAT? I would normally expect 10% is easily negotiable, but sometimes Dealers are unwilling to "deal" when there are Manufacturer backed offers like 0 VAT.

Car is being built now!

Should arrive in the next 3-4 weeks. (I can still wait till march 1st though)

So far no real interest in my car for sale Really thought it wouldn't hang about tbh :(

Might have to take a bigger hit at the dealers.
