Yeti owners - Thanks

Featured Replies

Shame you wish to go Prodata, I don't know about you but I can set a short-cut on my web browser which will take me directly to the appropriate forum, I currently have one for the Yeti and Octavia forums.

Ian

My shortcut for my Yeti interest is the Yeti forum. I note though that this area is now moribund. (The last post other than unhappiness/disciplinarian was last night ant 23.08 and was on a thread which had been moved but was later restored.)

I will keep checking to see whether Yeti enthusiasts are posting and whether any conversations are going on.

The most knowledgable expert has left as have some of the most engaged and many others are now quiet and waiting to see how things go.

There was nothing much wrong other than some non Yeti specific posts developing into general areas.

I wonder whether the ill feeling is out of proportion and think it is.

If I were solely interested in the wider Briskoda spirit I don't think I'd see the last 24 hours as a success.

As someone who's Skoda interest stems from my fondness for a particular model I'm bemused.

As someone whose Skoda interest stems from a long term fondness for all Skoda models (except the roomster as it's too ugly :giggle: ) I am as bemused as you.

Never mind, now what do we need to discuss about Yetis? :smirk:

This martyrdom reaction is out of all proportion to the topic moves that kicked it all off. Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face. We feel like a bunch of parents being emotionally blackmailed by our children, well I've got news for you, we are all united in this and we won't be told what to do by you. Go or stay, can't say that I'm at all fussed either way.

One thing puzzles me about the Yeti forum, why is there not one single topic in the Yeti Project Journals section?

Just to give you notice, I am aiming to have a tidy up sometime in the future, to amalgamate most of the pinned topics into one topic, similar to what was done in the Fabia 1 section a while ago. The aim of this is so that you see more recent topics on the first page.

Erm perhaps because it was only created recently?!

How about a section within each model section for pinned threads? Voila. Job done. Any newbies know where to go first and the first page of the general model chat just has unpinned threads.

good idea. As for project journals, could it also be because no one has done anything much yet to warrant a journal? And I think all the "martyrdom" folks have gone so you're largely preaching to the converted now :wonder:

What qualifies as a project? Elsie the Helipad with a remap and flappy paddle MFSW, or is it something more extreme. Not many cars will be much modded as the Yeti is only 2 years old and not out of warranty yet.

How about this, how about that.

The forum is what it is and is set up by Colin

How about we all just leave it as it is, because thats the way it is

.

We have to run this place and as such need to keep a lid on sections so we know where things are too many sections leads to confusion on a mass scale, I'll be honest here in saying it's hard to keep track now, never mind opening up each in to 10 sub sections.

Do you want my log in details and you have a go, because it ain't easy I can assure, you can't keep everyone happy !!

No one else has ever complained when things have moved or even gone full stop.

We are just going round in circles and not getting anywhere here.

Mike, IMO Elsie is a prime example of what is a project, you could list all the info like part No.s etc where you know them to help others as well, basically listing everything that you have changed either physically or via VCDS etc

OK that makes sense........ though if all the pinned threads are in their own section and no one can post to it except the mods I really don't see how that is going to add to your housekeeping?! You never need go there yet the first general page of each model is clean with just the day's things in there.

But I agree. Lets just let the dust settle, sit back for a bit and all come back later refreshed.

The forum seems all over the place at the moment, although not against change it appears to have taken a step backwards.

I have found this forum to be a fantastic source of information in the past 6 months and really enjoyed logging in to keep up with certain threads but I will be watching with interest to see how things develop before making a decision on whether I will frequent as much. To me the forum has been over organised and will now be much more difficult to find what I'm looking for and I just don't have the time to trawl for information.

A great shame and to see great sources of help and information move on, The Plumber, only makes matters worse.:thumbdown::(

I think we're in agreement with you, we were (well I was) trying to make constructive responses to what Fordfan said about needing to tidy up the pinned items and technical guides and his query about whether there are no project journals.

I've not got any issues as I have always checked the "view new content" link rather than just going to the yeti section. I just did that and ended up posting Yeti wheel info in the Octy II forum though because there is a winter tyres thread in there and I just posted away and only realised afterwards that it's in the Octy II section not the new tyres section. Octy Owners are now probably wondering why I was wittering on about 7J wheels :giggle:

Fordfan,

In times past I was a happy and enthusiastic Sierra 2.0i owner.

I agree about the proposal to reduce the number of pinned topics-that is a good move which will make the front page more useful.

The martyrdom reaction is out of proportion to the removal of general subjects to more general areas I agree. But it also is a reflection upon the suddenness of and -in one or two respects mistaken decisions-which have now I think been re-assessed and two threads restored.

Your telling us about the impending re-organisation of the pinned threads makes a happy contrast.

I moderate a bike forum and agree the mods must be free to make decisions and members sign up to and must accept that.

In this instance some people over-reacted and others whose usernames were ones I'd never seen here began to post hostile comments directed at Yeti enthusiasts.

I think Johann and others have hit on the explanation for the lack of project threads. My car is less than a year old and so warranty issues are a main concern. Other than a limited range of stuff from Superskoda there is little aftermarket stuff on offer. The new generation ECUs are as yet resisting the tuner's attempts at OBD tuning-so warranty issues again are to the fore.

For a while it may be one of the mods should adopt this section so as to provide continuity and provide a "go to" contact point while things settle.

I hope this forum revives-I found it a useful and jolly place to spend time.

even now they are posting threads with videos aimed at provoking a response from Yeti owners - thankfully without response.

I suspect all those susceptible to the provocation have given up and left Briskoda.

Yes, or someone with a Yeti volunteers to become a mod - but given that it's such a thankless task this seems unlikely.

I won't mind helping if indeed it will help...

I like your thinking but why punish all of the Yeti owners when it's only a handful or two that have kicked off?

and given that a minority of Octy and Furby owning Briskodians deliberately provoked said handful then by your thinking we'd have to revoke the Octy and Furby side too. So we'd be left with Briskroomster and Brisksuperb.

No I think your thinking sucks. Can we not just forget the name calling, refrain from divisive posts and concentrate on improving Briskoda? Coming in with childish suggestions when some of us were exploring positive ideas is the sort of pointless behaviour that helped prolong a needless stushie in the first place!

I'm going to go for a lie down. Going to have to dig out a blue cover for my kevlar helmet at this rate. Where did I put the body armour?

The site was already grouped, the difference and the major change is....

Where once the yeti owners area was a forum, under skoda owners, which had a permission block to stop posts...it's now a category, so it gets it's own green bar.

So that's a swap from a forum with no posts, within a category changed to a top level category.

Yes some other forums were moved (community section) and a new one added on tyres||tires, but then if we look back at how many t*** threads there are the reviews section was crying out for a t**** section to catch all the what do you think of t*** x or y....

The fact people have left over a few threads being moved... I'll not comment on other than I move a lot of threads and if I could I'd move a lot more.... I'd delete over 1million, but perhaps I'd best retire now.

 Makes sense........

Though the Yeti folk have one and all said we don't have issues what has been moved.....

Now it is this amazingly childish trolling and anger vented at us from people that have NEVER EVER posted in the Yeti forum... Why?! We have long forgotten the threads being moved and again and again and again some little knowitall comes over to throw mud in our faces? Eh?! Why? I hope they get a talking to if it continues. It is bring the entire Briskoda down.

baa quoted me whilst I was editing ;)

If this lot keeps getting ploughed, somebody might turn up a 110R for me to restore.

ditto! If some of our fellow yeti owners had been rather thicker skinned they'd have just told the children to sod off but instead they over reacted which is exactly the reaction which wind up merchants want.

The changes make loads of sense colin, and actually save us all posting in numerous duplicate winter tyre threads for example. But there is still a little inconsistency. There are two winter tyre / wheel threads runnign on Octy II today. I posted in one earlier thinking it was in the new tyres thread. But that's because I enter the site via the new content link and I assumed that with all the housekeeping gadgetman had to do last night that I was in the tyres section. Ho hum.

Looks like you have a yeti owning volunteer to assist with moderating now though - that has to be a positive? And he's not a pipe smoking reired old fart who complains about young people and the loud music they play on their Fabias either :giggle: (disclaimer: that WAS a joke, not all fabia owners are young or play loud music)

Hi Colin,

rest assured this contributor to the forum has not left, however I have decided to go quite for a while. Sadly I felt that certain moderator/s were contributing to the unfortunate events that have beset parts of Briskoda recently and I'm not talking about the initial move of posts. This may be my own perception on things rightly or wrongly but if the 'police' cannot police their own actions then I think there is an issue.

Oh likewise spent the day messing about with wheels in more ways than one ;):giggle:

Regards as always,

TP
