Fabia interior lighting issue

Featured Replies

I was wondering (might be a VCDS issue too) but I have an odd interior lighting issue. When I have the interioir light switch set to doors open, when I open the doors the interior lights come on, but when I shut the door/s there is a faint glow from the 3 roof lights, and the puddle lights STAY on illuminating bright red whilst driving. I drive now with it set to "all-off" but it would nice if someone knows how I can resolve this small issue?

The only thing which might be causing it is the fact I have all vRS wiring inside the car, but the loom connects to the original fabia 2001 pd100 door, and the wiring held there-in.

I'm hoping its something I can fiddle around with on VCDS.

Oh, and when car is running, I do still get the door open warning light, so the car knows when the doors are open and shut. Just odd how the bulbs faintly glow and the puddle lights come on.

Oh, also forgot to add I added a black vRS fabia roof light unit, but these symptoms were the same with my old unit so I am sure it is not that.

Defo sounds like a unique 'Mongrel' issue. In other words, I ain't got a clue mate.

Are the bulbs LEDs ? If so you may have to revert to tungsten bulbs because the the glow might be supplying a feed to the puddle lights.

DB.

Need to add a resistor to the festoon LED bulb, or swap one bulb for a canbus type. Issue is LED's require less power so light dimly. A resistor helps take away any residual power.

I don't think the bulbs are LED - they are the usual fit bulbs - two sidelight ones and a festoon, all normal halogen looking. All three glow lightly when door shut. Tonight I verified that the puddle lights are out when the doors are open, but come ON when the doors shut. So the puddle lights are doing totally the opposite of what I want them to do (as well as the odd roof-light glow). :D Hoping the convenience module can be coded or something? Or I need to code in a vRS convenience ECU? I did have a spare ECU but must have sold it.

I used to have the same problem. It use to drain my battery. I found out that the micro switch was faulty! Ended up replacing the door lock mechanism! It's sorted it's self out after that.......
