Leaking Door Seals

Featured Replies

Well it's been chucking it down lately and my car has been gathering a lot of condensation in side. I did a search and found the leaking door issue was a common fault.

I brought my car from skoda and got a 12 month warrenty with it. If I call my dealer will they or should they fix it under warrenty? Or will I be expected to pay?

Thanks

Yes it should be covered by the warranty. It's a known problem that the rear doors leak, give the dealer a ring. Shouldn't take more than a day for them to fix it either way

Great, hopefully they will sort me out with a loan car whilst they have mine. I'll ring them today.

Thanks for quick reply

If you read the Warranty Manual you got through the post (may not have received it yet, takes a while) You have to be without a car for more than 8 hours before they give you a loan car. Although its worth asking, worst they can say is no!

When I had some warranty work carried out it was quick and painless. They didn't kick up a fuss at all.

I spoke to my local dealership and they are checking it but said water ingress is not covered under warrenty :(

Don't even bother with going through warranty, very easy job for someone to do even with no skills or experience, takes 30 mins max per door. Loads of info on Briskoda about this and video guides on youtube, just take your time and work things through logically...

Well I think I'm going to attempt the problem myself at some point over the next month or so.

Skoda dealer have said the door seals to replace are around £23 and then £20 labour. Looking around at the threads on here it just needs sealant which is definately not £40!!!

If you buy the correct sealant kit that we use with primer etc the yes it is around £40.

I brought my used Fabia with the full Skoda 12 month warranty. The leaking doors were not covered. I must say the dealers were good with any mechanical problems under the warranty though.

Used Wickes roof and gutter sealant (about £4) in the end following the great advice and guides on this site and the problem is now sorted, hopefully for a few years....
