How much boost?

Featured Replies

Good evening,

I know its not about a vRS but just wanting to help a mate out......

Doe anyone know what boost a 1.8T KO4 225 should run stock, and remaped (I understand that the boost will depend on the map, but just roughly)

It's currently running 2+ bar mapped when cold, and will vary on the motorway - around 1.5 bar (but was up and down)

Anyone know what it should run at, and if this sounds normal?

Cheers!

2 bar = 29psi, is it me or does that sound like a LOT!

ko4 should run about 1.5 bar peak and hold around 1.2 barwhen remapped,2 bar =big bang in the end!

Way too much boost

What did you measure with, VCDS or Boost gauge ??

Cheers for the responses! not looking good though.......

Measured it with a boost gauge

2.0 bar of boost is over the top even for a mildly tuned diesel and they push more boost, pound for pound, than the equivalent petrol turbo.

could be a dodgy boost gauge, mine over reads slightly. I'd want to get it looked at for piece of mind.

i used to run 2.3 bar.............................but that was on my 450bhp escort cosworth with a 10k wrc spec engine!!!!

farrrrr to much boost
