Coolant/Anti-freeze

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just doing a bit of home servicing before winter fully sets in and I was wondering does anyone know how much coolant I will need if I am going to drain the system and fill from empty again?

Currently only got 1 bottle of 1.5litre on order and wondering if I need more.

Cheers

When i changed mine i used two ltrs, but my cooling system holds seven ltrs.

It would depend on which engine you have, And the recommended dilution ratio, Which I assume should be 50/50.

The cooling system capacities range from 5.5-6.9 litres. The vRS being 6.8l

If you shove up the model & spec ( engine size etc), I'll have a look in Haynes for you .From memory ratio is 50/50 .Might also be worth a reverse flush ( top hose off ,bottom hose off and water in from bottom ,unless some techie advises against)

its an 2003 1.4 8V 5 door model.

was thinking reverse flush too

Suggest put in 50/50 then pop along to garage for check to see if enough to cope with them low temperatures we will soon have.

They have a gadget that can tell how low your mixture can go before freezing.

40% is the minimum recommended which is good down to -24°

Either way you need 2 x 1.5ltr bottles

its an 2003 1.4 8V 5 door model.

Total capacity is 5.5 litres, So you'll need 2.75 litres of G12.

thanks for all the info lads, very much appreciated.

BRISKODA rules again!

What's the difference between g12 and g12 plus plus? I see that the other day. So would two bottles of g12 plus plus be sufficient mixed with distiller water for a complete refill? How hard is it to empty the system and where from? And water is the benefit of a top flush?
