OCTAVIA L &K

Featured Replies

Hi comrades ive just popped over from fabia forum, I am thinking of going for either a L&K or Elegance model, however I am looking at the Volvo V70 but I have always prefered the Octavia as I really miss my old GLXi estate, so in eassence is the L&K spec worth the extra dosh?emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I have had mine for over a year, and love it.

Depending on what driving you do, mine is a DSG, with Alcantara, and Bluetooth (plus a couple of extras)

When I looked at spec'ing up the elegance, it turned out cheaper to buy the L&K,

the xenon's are amazing. Heated seats coming into the winter are fab, and so are the electric seats.

there are a number of other features, but to be honest I cant remember what they are, but defo worth the extra.

Good luck.

I would say yes when you get the VAT off all the L&K spec as well. I do about a thousands miles a week and with the DSG, and the VAT off that as well, it is a very nice place to be.

Supposedly is about 50-55p a mile considering deprecation and I am thinking of going for a Superb but not L&K as you cannot get the L&K on the 1.8 DSG but might go for just an S or SE as it is so well equipped.

Volvo's had very bad depreciation but goods safety, like the Superb has with 5 star NCAP, shame we do not get the clever Audi variable vale timing engines for better economy and torque.

I have just traded in my third l& k. As has already been said, the definitely worth the extra

I love my L&K. Had it for 3.5 years and have no intention of changing it. I have the Alcantara seats which are heated (lovely at this time of year), the memory seats are brilliant and the piano black trim looks cool. Definately worth the extra.

Am loving that piano black trim.

I must admit that I'm torn between the vRS and L&K.

I'd like the extra grunt of the vRS, but I like the extras & comfort of the L&K, plus I know what the 1,8TSi is like and of course the nice DSG-7 box.

Depends what you want from the car. I was having the same dilemma as Evening Star and in the end went for the vRS. When you hear about all the nice features of the L&K the vRS is really rather poorly spec'd in comparison.

What we need is a vRS - X (X for extra toys!) ;)

or a 1.8TSI with a remap = 200bhp!!

But will a DSG-7 take 200bhp? :wonder:

Probably, but the extra torque will kill it!! Manual 'box only I'm afraid (unless you can find a custom map with max 250nm).

I can't have a manual box, I have :swear: knee & leg problems, so a (semi)automatic such as the DSG is essential.

Also I don't think my insurance company will like the idea of a remap!

One of the many reasons I went for the 1.8 TSI DSG L&K.

The VRS does have stiffer suspension which is more suited when going bananas but the comfort, toys and with the 7 speed DSG which helps give 100 km further range but still only half a second slower to 62 mph. We have a TSI VRS as well which I drove for 10K but done nearly 40K in a year in the L&K and it is the nicer place to be with the electric and heated seats, adaptive lighting, Alacantara, the list is long.

The 7 speed DSG will take up to 380 Nm some tuning houses reckon but since the standard max power come in at 4500 ie 2500 short of the red line then keeping the torque at 250-300 Nm and letting the revs rise should let power rise to 215 hp and I recall seeing this quoted by some tuning houses.

Probably will not do this to my Octavia but will do it for the Superb I replace it for in the next 6 months or so. But you cannot get an L&K package for the 1.8TSI strangely enough so I will have to spec and S/SE/SE Plus and add some further bits unless they add the excellent 1.8TSI to the L&K listing.

Want we want to see is the Audi VVT version of the 1.8 TSI that puts out more torque than the TSI VRS ie 320 NM from 1400-3700 rpm, crikey!!!!!!!

Lol,

I'm a bit puzzled by your statement 'But you cannot get an L&K package for the 1.8TSI strangely enough' as I have got one (DSG version). I have checked the Skoda site and it allows you to configure an Octavia L&K 1.8TSI in both manual and DSG forms.

Have I misunderstood what you meant? (Just read your post again, and perhaps you meant an L&K Superb? Mine is an Octavia L&K Estate.)

Cheers, Mike.

Yes, yes, cannot get L&K on the 1.8 TSI Superb yet, only the crazy petrols and the slower diesels, maybe one day.

Octaiva L&K is excellent. I am on my second. First for 4 years, current for 2. Silver, black Alcantara, 2.0 TDI DSG with flappy paddles, xenon lights taht look round the bend. it is a great car. Practical beyond anything I have ever driven - glovebox, coin holder, sunglasses holder, space for maps, books, water bottles, HUGE BOOT that fits two sets of golf clubs, shoes, electric trolleys and weekend bags.

What extra would I like on it? vRS engine and brakes. 4x4 with the DSG. electric handbrake like the Passat. Stop/start technology. Satnav that does not require a remortgage to update, and can be taken out, or a space to put a satnav with a sensible power supply (perhaps a usb slot). Oh, and tyres that automatically switch to winter tyres when the temperature drops below 8 degrees.
