Black line down windscreen

Featured Replies

Just this afternoon noticed a thin straight black line down the centre of the windscreen. It starts at the top in the shaded area behind the RV mirrior, and extends about 2/3's the way down to the bottom of the screen. It looks a bit like an element of a rear screen heater, only vertical, and much, much thinner, and goes nowhere. I can't feel anything, either inside or outside. Any ideas? Only had the car two months, and it's the first time I've noticed it.

It's another Ariel, FM i believe

Definately another aerial. I noticed it when I got the car.

I got my VRS in August, and only noticed this line down my windscreen yesterday too. Was passing an autoglass place and asked them to check. Felt a bit of a wally when he told me it was an ariel!

I thought it was a central mark were you put

driver | mi missus on the top of the windscreen, bugger I will need to take the lettering down now ;)

I reckon', due to it's location, that its for Bluetooth for the phone. Standard windscreen fit, whether your car has the bluetooth pack or not.

I could be wrong though...(I normally am!)

I thought it was for playing Pong on the head-up display while waiting at traffic lights.

This is the Black-line reminder strip.

Its to remind you what will happen if you turn off the traction control and mash the pedal to the metal....

Just found out what's the line for, it's a driving aid for ladies so they don't wonder from the middle of the lane ;)

AM reception in my Fabia is way way better than the Octavia, and it has a standard double fakes connection at the back - good for listening to sports commentary
