I have just purchased some Castrol 5w-30 fully synthetic oil from halfords and was wondering if this is a sutable oil before I put it into my VRS? I am aware of the oil guide on here, but all the oils on the list were 5w 40 and i couldnt see any onsale at Halfords?

Does it say on the container that it meets VW spec 505 01 or 507 00? If not, then it is NOT suitable. The oil guide really does mean what it says.

It doesnt no, it only lists Fords. looks like ill be returning it. Thanks or your help

Dealer will charge about 20-25 for 5l of pd oil

with the PD lumps they are very fussy on oil, like what DGW said it must meet 505.01 507.00 so I'm affraid take it back and maybe try somewhere else other than Halfords, you will find it cheaper else where too
